3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Dark black with a tan creamy head. Great lacing. Attack was a bit thin and underwhelming, but the finish was off the hook, long bold, filled with coffee and roast notes, very smooth. Yumm!

Sampled in a 12 oz bottle. While I really enjoyed this bottle, it wasnt a big boomer. It was well crafted and very subtle in the flavoring. If it was just a stout it would be top notch. Enjoyed. it though.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a pint glass. Dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted barley and coffee. Flavor matches pretty close but even stronger roast flavors. Excellent stout. A little more flavor than a typical oatmeal stout but very good!

12oz. Bottle: A gift from Daknole; THANKS Dakine! Aroma of roasted malt, espresso, oats, and a with hint of chocolate. Poured very dark brown/ruby/black in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small and medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of roasted malt, oats, light coffee, light chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, light coffee, oat, and slight chocolate finish is dry.

On tap in "Guinness" imperial pint at Downey Brewing Co., Downey CA. Opaque brown/black with tan head that lasts. Not much to the aroma, some caramel and chocolate. Beautiful complex malt flavor- roast, chocolate, biscuit, vanilla. Not catching the barrel-aged influence, beyond the vanilla. Medium body. Substantial but not sticky or filling. Begs to be tasted again. This pint didn’t last long.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tastes like a charred barrel. Dry and dark with plenty of wood and faint alcohol. Wasn’t as full bodied or chewy as I expect from an oatmeal stout. I thought this would be much heavier, but it was actually pretty thin on the mouthfeel (once you get past all of the burnt wood flavor). Faint coffee and dark chocolate, but mostly I taste the bourbon barrels.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black as usual. minimal head. Nose is largely coffee like and chocolate, some malty breads, roasted malts, maybe cereal, not much bready malts, or fruity esters. Taste is coffee, roast, sweetness at first then fades to mild dryness. Bitterness complements. Smooth mouthfeel and full bodied. Good but not extremely complex...not that it really a should but I would bet my left nut that it has coffee added.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks Dan! Pours a dark chocolately brown with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma of coffee, oats, and leather (that I suspect is due to the bourbon). Slightly sour with weak flavors of chocolate and oats. Medium to watery body, with little and leaves little to write home about. Not a bad aroma, but relatively weak as it moves across the tongue.

Oatmeal is very prominent. Silky smooth body with excellent texture. Very rich for the ABV - swear it’s 7% plus! Lots of bitter chocolate and caramel, with hte finished product being wholly integratred in a fascinating way.
