3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 12oz bottle. Unfiltered brown-black body with a creamy beige head. Definitely heading into the sweet stout style, very sweet with an almost lactic touch. Doesnít come off that fresh...but itís not, over 6 months since it was bottled. Roasty, big specialty malt tones. The hops are faded and gone, and Iíd assume that what made this beer work. Not so bad, some luscious chocolate tones, but not good enough that Iíd eagerly revisit it....revisited and I like it a lot better. Displays some respectable balance. Good beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
An excellent stout with a complex yet subtle combination of tastes. Makes a nice contrast to those with a strong coffee/chocolate slant.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Capones. Poured an opaque dark brown color with a one finger tan head that quickly disappears. Nose is dominated by roasted malt, cocoa, and a small amount of sweet toffee. Tastes of estery chocolate malts, robust oats, biscuit and dough. Finish is roasty, bready, and cookielike. Soft, creamy mouthfeel that is highly carbonated.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2013 Bottle: black, black, black with the deepest brown head. Creamy tan head, big bubbles and reduces quick. Aroma is creamy, silky chocolates, mild oats, dark malt, and some milky sweetness. The taste is a little more roasty; full of lightly charred malt, mild prune sweetness, more milky chocolate, and a drying, sweet oak finish. Mouth is not as thick or creamy as Iíd like for an oatmeal stout; slick, thin, silky.
Pretty good oatmeal stout all around. Nothing too crazy but something Iíd get more often if it was readily available.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours near black with minimal head. Hint of roast, more sweetness in the aroma. Flavor is sweet, malty not too burnt or roasty though palate is full. Would prefer more bite from darker malts.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
$2 Single from Lemon Tree. Dated 2/21/13. Low key smell with some chocolate and black patent malt. Solid black body, a short light tan head. Taste has some milk chocolate, a bitter hop note I donít find in a lot of session stouts. Mouthfeel is between a force carbonated beer and a cask or nitro pour. No added stale stout to this one. Enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Color is a rich deep black. The aroma is of dark chocolate and coffee. The taste starts off with dark chocolate and coffee, its a pleasant taste but not that sweet. The disappointing part is its a very watery taste. It has a clean finish that is not too bitter. Someone said this was like left hand milk stout, but i dont think its nearly that sweet or creamy.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very nice stout as expected from firestone (underrated brewery anyone?), sweet milk chocolate with pleasant roasted coffee hop bite. Perhaps because its marketed as an oatmeal stout with the term ívelvetí in the name, i was expecting a real full creamy palate like samuel smiths, and it did not have that. So my only complaint was that it was rather thin, however if you go into it expecting more of a sweet milk stout like left hand, it delivers.
