Tap: black pour with small light-tan head. Aroma is roasted grain, coffee and a small bit of coffee. Flavor is thick with roast chocolate, grain, coffee, and a bit of hops in the end. Smooth and almost creamy easy drinking stout with lots of flavor.

Label looked cool, also liked the cap. Beautiful ebony color, poured like an ale, not what I was expecting. It says stout in the front. Melodious favors, not just a simple one or two note beer. Hoppy aftertaste.

12 fl oz / 355mL bottle into a tulip glass. Served cool.
Aroma: Bittersweet chocolate, roast, and some lovely espresso.
Appearance: Opaque dark brown with a thick tan head. Lovely lacing.
Taste: Nice chocolate and coffee. The oatmeal is most present on the end. Pretty tasty.
Palate: Rich and full body. Clean finish, though. Flavors hang around for a little bit.
Overall: Pretty great stout! Quite wonderful.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught. Pours a near black color with a very small head on it. Nose is really quite roasty and inviting. Taste was a little shockingly light to me, but very roasty with some slight coffee tones to it. As the name would imply, it was also very smooth. Great beer.

Jan 2013 bottle into a snifter. Very dark brown pour. Foamy tan head. Smooth cocoa coffee flavors. Dark red pit fruits. Plums pudding. Slight ash and spice. The oats successfully mute the sweetness. Excellent blend - though the barrel aged version (Velvet Merkin) is so much better.
