Pours black with a large pillowy tan head. Smells of chocolate and roast. Taste is chocolate, roast, hints of coffee. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin finishes with a touch of roast dryness.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Appearance: moderate sized tan head that diminishes quickly, poor lacing, deep brown to black color, little bit cloudy. Aroma: very malty, oatmeal, milk chocolate, caramel. Palate: full body, lively carbonation, thin texture, slightly bitter and lasting finish. Taste: medium sweetness, light bitterness, slightly savory. Overall a very drinkable stout with an excellent aroma.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On cask at Mr. Goodbar in Buffalo, NY. Surprised Iíd never had this before....or, at least, Iíd never rated it. This was only ok. Poured a deep dark brown. Had a little bit of a coffee feel, a little bit of chocolate but really just kinda thin. I was expecting a creamier mouthfeel from the cask but it was a little lacking. Not bad but not exceptional.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black in color with a mocha-colored head that descipated quickly. Poor lacing. Malty notes(peanuts and chocolate). Thin texture with low carbonation. The beer taste like burnt grain. The finish is long and leaves a sticky residue in your mouth. This beer should have had a bigger body but it was just to watery for me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The stout pours dark chestnut with a nice creamy light tan head. The aroma is light malts that are a bit smoky with notes of chocolate. The flavor is light smooth roasted malts on a delicious creamy body. It is so light and smooth it goes down very easily, awesome.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark black, no head. Chocolate aroma. Medium to full palate with slight hops and coffee. Middle is big coffee with nice full body and finishes with a slightly carbonated tongue. Doesnít have the oatmeal stout taste necessarily, and I donít quite knw why itís considered a winter beer..but itís damn good!
