A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

Appearance was clear root beer with creamy diminishing tannish 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are sweet chocolate, soft coffee, oats, caramel, roasted malts. Taste are sweet chocolately, vanilla, oatmeal, roasty expresso malts, hints of herbal spicey hops. Palate was smooth creamy CO2 with meduim body, an average sweet oaty cocao creamy cleanish finish. A prime example of a oatmeal stout.

Don’t even need to get the beer too close to my nose to smell the roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate aroma. Taste is similar. Very creamy, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa. very decadent. Velvety smooth.

6-pack @ Chuck’s. Tasty oatmeal stout from the alchemists in Paso Robles. Smells faintly of campfire Tastes rather busy. I don’t know what Merlin is, so I’m not sure what that contributes to the overall taste, it is definitely more complex than a typical oatmeal stout. A little too carbonated for my liking, but a fine stout overall.

Tap: black pour with small light-tan head. Aroma is roasted grain, coffee and a small bit of coffee. Flavor is thick with roast chocolate, grain, coffee, and a bit of hops in the end. Smooth and almost creamy easy drinking stout with lots of flavor.

Pours a thinnish dark brown, with light easily passing through it. Nice large tan head. The aroma is typical of an oatmeal stout, with roastiness leading the charge and some round toasted bread coming in at the end. On the palate, the beer is richer than it seems like it should be, with the typical oatmeal oiliness making for a nice full feel. Notes of chocolate and roasted malts dominate, with a touch of fresh cut wood. Very drinkable.

On tap at Brouwers for bigwood. Pours deep brown-black with minimal tan head and some clings. Aromas of woodsmoke, cinnamon, and vanilla. Palate is a bit thin for a stout. Tastes of smoke, toasted malts, and oatmeal with a caramel finish.
