COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

12 oz bottle, that was a gift from Daknole (thanks Dak!), served in a tulip. Pour is a deep black/ruby with a quarter inch of tan, loose bubbly head; not much lacing, nor retention with this brew. Nose is a hearty bowl of oatmeal with molasses on it, roasted malt, chewy toffee, a touch of vanilla, and notes of dark chocolate. This smelled like a wonderful breakfast! Taste very closely mimics the nose, so closely in fact that I had to resist the urge to go get a spoon. This was a very delicious oatmeal stout, one of the better ones I’ve had, and one I could easily drink time and again. Though the diverse nose shines through clearly to the pallet, it was surprisingly done in a way that didn’t come off as hops, nor was it particularly sweet. This was an incredibly balanced stout!

Deep black pour with hearty carbonation. Velvety indeed. Very smooth, creamy, somewhat rich. The bourbon is not all that noticeable. This is a pleasantly rich yet drinkable stout, but I would have enjoyed a bit more warming alcohol or barrel flavor to offset the sweetness.

Bottle. Lighter aroma for a stout, but complex and pleasant. Coffee and chocolate flavours, caramel, some dark fruits. Not the heaviest or most full-bodied stout, but tasty and very nicely balanced.

12 oz bottle: pours almost black with a tan head. Oily, slick, CO2 sticks to the glass. Aroma of chocolate and toasted malts, some grass. Sweet and bitter taste, very complex. Smooth, thick and chewy finished bitter and sweet. Very easy to drink complex flavors make this a distinct brew.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Subtle chocolate aroma. Coffee, chocolate, and nutty flavors with low hop bitterness. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a light body and low carbonation.

Finally, someone bottled wizard blood! This potion pours black with hints of dark plum which I swear is the magic part. Either that or liquid velour. It smells of cocoa, molasses and super espresso and delivers taste-wise with that and nuts, dark toffee and some peaceful hops, just sitting in an armchair by the fire and letting the malt magic manifest. Feels a bit syrupy but not sickly so.

Poured into a pint glass. Dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted barley and coffee. Flavor matches pretty close but even stronger roast flavors. Excellent stout. A little more flavor than a typical oatmeal stout but very good!

Poured from 12 oz., picked up at Trader Joe’s. Poured a nice dark brown with a large tan head. Nice roasty nose, complex, with hints of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel was indeed creamy, full and heavy bodied, with a nice long finish. What I like most was that you often have a higher alcohol beer with something as good as this.
