A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

This is a really great session stout. Very balanced flavor, not too bitter. Great mouth feel. Delicious.

6 pack. This is a nice enough oatmeal stout, but I donít like it nearly as much as the benchmark for the style, Sam Smithís. Merlin isnít as creamy and isnít as rich. I think perhaps the carbonation (light though it seems) interferes, always a potential issue for a stout. Not a long aftertaste either, although whatís there is very good, a nice coffee with cream and sugar taste. The ABV isnít noticeable.

12 oz bottle bought at Planet Wine. Pours a dark brown with deep red hues when backlit. Tan head diminishes to a thin wisp of bubbles on the meniscus, with concentration on the glass. Aroma is round and sweet: roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, grain. Flavor is rich and smooth: chocolate malt, slight coffee bitterness, hop presence, chewy bread and a sweet graininess similar to homebrew wort, all brought together in a silky mouthfeel. Delicious.

Pours a hazy dark brown. Thick tan head that dissipates very quickly. Mild aroma of roast grain and cocoa. Flavor is stronger but similar, with moderate roastiness and cocoa powder. Very thin (for a stout) mouthfeel and dry finish. The beer doesnít taste bad but I was very disappointed by the thin mouthfeel.

Black with a small head. Aroma is black coffee and roasted nuts. Flavor is bitter and roasty, but actually very approachable. The mouthfeel is very thin, which is the only thing Iím taking away points for. However, compared to some other stouts Iíve had recently, this is just underwhelming. Itís still very good though.

Bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is mostly oat with a tiny bit of chocolate. Taste follows suit and adds a light smokey note. Medium mouthfeel and carb. Tasty.

Bottle. Lighter aroma for a stout, but complex and pleasant. Coffee and chocolate flavours, caramel, some dark fruits. Not the heaviest or most full-bodied stout, but tasty and very nicely balanced.

6 pack from an October trip to Colorado, tasted with 11 other stouts (finished 3rd). Pitch black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is extremely dark roast coffee (nearly burnt) and just a touch of bourbon. Flavor and texture are well-rounded, with a creamy body and loads of depth. Dark chocolate layers well on top of coffee and earthy hops.

Pours dark with thick tan head and foamy lacing. Pleasant notes of chocolate and coffee. Balanced taste with a slightly bitter finish. Smooth and creamy.

Pours black with a lasting brown head. Nice aroma of malt, caramel, and some hops. Full bodies with a nice palate and balanced flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
