A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

Smooth stuff. Looked great in the glass, dark color but didn’t create much of a head. Nice cocoa aroma with some caramel. Nice long finish. Great winter beer.

Pours a thinnish dark brown, with light easily passing through it. Nice large tan head. The aroma is typical of an oatmeal stout, with roastiness leading the charge and some round toasted bread coming in at the end. On the palate, the beer is richer than it seems like it should be, with the typical oatmeal oiliness making for a nice full feel. Notes of chocolate and roasted malts dominate, with a touch of fresh cut wood. Very drinkable.

Don’t even need to get the beer too close to my nose to smell the roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate aroma. Taste is similar. Very creamy, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa. very decadent. Velvety smooth.

120z bottle to shaker. Courtesy of Jimmeekrek. Nice sweet oatmeal stout with a hint of dry stout to it. Nice texture from the oats. Enjoyable.

Hugely overrated stout. Aroma is low, head is ample, taste is dry without anything whatsoever to stand out and make me want to try this again. Not one to buy again.

Poured on tap from Poppy’s in Estes Park, CO. coffee, chocolate, on nose. Taste of coffee, milk chocolate and a bit of dark chocolate, round smooth mouthfeel, something I can’t identify on finish (smoky wood - maybe mesquite?) Finish is dry.

Lovely oatmeal stout. Opaque black with a lighter tan head. The nose shows a mix of dark roast coffee and some dark brooding fruit. Full bodied, but with a fresh mouthfeel. Very balanced and delicious stout.

Bottle. Lighter aroma for a stout, but complex and pleasant. Coffee and chocolate flavours, caramel, some dark fruits. Not the heaviest or most full-bodied stout, but tasty and very nicely balanced.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Color is very dark brown, almost black. Two finger tan head. Smell light amounts of coffee, oaky, malty. Flavorful, you can taste coffee, toffee, chocolate. The MERKIN is good stuff.
