3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 bottle poured into pint glass. A hazy brown beer with a redish shine under a tan head. The aroma has notes of straw, roasted malt, and metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of wood, leading to a dry and roasted finish. The body is medium. Carbonation is soft.

Pours a very dark black with a tan head. Espresso and sweet chocolate aromas. Slightly bitter with cocoa/coffee flavors throughout the drink. Leaves a light bitter taste on palate.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Smells of licorice, chocolate, coffee... Looks awesome. Nearly pitch black, tan head. Taste almost exactly how it smells - solid stout. Lasting palate.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very nice stout as expected from firestone (underrated brewery anyone?), sweet milk chocolate with pleasant roasted coffee hop bite. Perhaps because its marketed as an oatmeal stout with the term ’velvet’ in the name, i was expecting a real full creamy palate like samuel smiths, and it did not have that. So my only complaint was that it was rather thin, however if you go into it expecting more of a sweet milk stout like left hand, it delivers.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Above average on the carbonation. Thin to medium bodied. You can see through this one.
Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts.
Taste is similar to nose with some lingering soft roast flavors at the end. Thin, watery , and clean mouthfeel.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours deep brown with a thick beige head that dissipates leaving almost no lace at all. Aroma is quite roasty with toasted rye bread and nuts. Tastes a bit watered down from when I had it before. Some coffee and roast coming through but way too thin to tell.. Finishes crisp, roasty and dry.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light bodied for a stout. Mild creaminess, espresso, chocolate. Slightly nutty. Balanced earthy German- style hops. Decent, but lacks flavor.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2012 A lightweight stout with no real flaws that I could discern. Wouldn’t turn one down if you wanted to hand me one.
