COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

Serving: from tap at Brouwerís Cafe. Aroma: light wood and chocolate aroma. Appearance: small, creamy, light-brown, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark-brown/black body. Taste: heavy, bourbon-like, lightly roasted initial flavor with hints of wood. Lightly acidic and bitter finish with average duration. Palate: medium-to-full body with oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall: didnít really like it much.

6 pack. This is a nice enough oatmeal stout, but I donít like it nearly as much as the benchmark for the style, Sam Smithís. Merlin isnít as creamy and isnít as rich. I think perhaps the carbonation (light though it seems) interferes, always a potential issue for a stout. Not a long aftertaste either, although whatís there is very good, a nice coffee with cream and sugar taste. The ABV isnít noticeable.

01.31.14 bottled. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a goblet on 07.30.14. A: Cocoa, caramel, and licorice. Sweet smelling. A: Thin tan head that recedes super quickly. Midnight black body with some red in the glass. T: Licorice and caramel dominate. Cocoa and raisin are subtle. P: Creamy. Bubbly on the tongue. It has a lot of carbonation. O: This is a very good oatmeal stout. It is very bubbly but I like that in this beer. It goes down super easy.

soft roasted coffee bean and faint copper penny minerally aromas, very bread toasty scents, medium plus but not full viscous body, minerality lifts smooth light roast and light dark chocolate flavors, not the longest finish, mellow subtle bitterness, but crazy drinkable

Bottle. Exceptional "shelf" stout, I donít think there are many better 6-packs out there. Dark brown with tan head. Chocolate, coffee, some dark fruit. Smooth, lively, medium bodied. Sessionable. Now I want some Merkin!
