Dark and thick. This beer is a tasty one. Rich, toasty malt flavor with a rich creaminess. Full flavored and complex. I’m glad they took it out of the taprooms and bottled it.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2007 This is a great porter ,it pours deep black with a fantastic nose of sweet malts. It tastes of dark chocolate with notes of coffee and dates . It has no bitter aftertaste, with a perfect hops blend .It ’s not too harsh just right on the taste buds. This is the best porter on the market at this price. This is the best product by Firestone, whose brews have greatly improved.I highly recommend this porter. It is one of my favorite brews.Superb!.

Exceptionally smooth taste for such a combination of malts and hops. Very mellow carmel smell almost like chocolate that has been cooked to long on the stove top. Black in appearance with absolutely zero head, except for a very faint white ring. No lingering aftertaste but a smooth malty finish. I had heard many great things about Firestone Walker and this one is a great Porter.

This robust porter could be the best out there and definitely better then the bottle not that there is anything wrong with the bottle.
Recieved from the waitress in a nice goblet and had a rich deeper brown color. A thin small head sat on top which was quite dense and never fading. It had avery light beige color and was striking. Carbonation looked to be very nice.
Aroma was rich with roasted malts, chocolate malts and hints of coffee. There is also a underlying sweetness too.
Taste is thick and robust on the palette.
A rich complex taste of roasted malts sweet milk chocolate and espresso. Underneath is another layer of flavor thats sweet and softer, light oak, molasses, vanilla. It enhances the bold malt flavors and brings them into balance.
The beer slides down with no effort and has lingering bitter aftertaste from the abundance of rich malts.
Perhaps i lucked out and this keg was recently tapped but I’ll tell you what: this was definitly the best porter I’ve had to date.
Search it out and try on tap and you’ll agree or your money back!

Pours dark brown to almost black with nice fluffy head and medium lacing. Aromas of cocoa and chocolate. Medium bitterness. Full body, creamy, with the malts taking over the palate at the finish. Very sessionable for a porter.

We luckily stumbled upon a keg of FW Reserve at Tavern liquor in the San Fernando Valley. Very good porter. Fine, distinctive flavor. Another great effort by Firestone.

A very outstanding porter. Pours nearly opaque black, showing red-amber around the edges. Large tan head, creamy and rocky, lasted til the end with medium lacing. Aroma is of bitter chocolate, a little coffee, slight roastiness, and just a hint of hazelnut. Flavor is very well balanced and light on the palate, with a dry finish. I get notes of bitter chocolate and light malt sweetness mainly. A little bit of coffee. Nice dry hoppy finish with lingering roasty flavors. Did I say this was very well balanced? Very very quaffable (that was a big bottle - where’d it all go so fast?)

Sweet aroma of toffee and light bittersweet chocolate. Deep crimson black in color with a nice off-white head. Very creamy mouthfeel, velvety and nice. Flavor abounds with vanilla, roasted toffee, bitter chocalte and bit of toasted malts. Slight bitterness at the swallow. Very nice. Thanks to Tever.
