Based on beer recipes developed in the 1800s by traditional English brewers, this ale is well balanced with caramel malts and English hops. Historical records exist showing the importation of Fuggle and Golding hops to Upper Canada in the early 1800s, in fact it was well known for American invaders to demand food and beer from homesteads they occupied.

(Rating #7016)

Sampled from a 650 ml brown bottle this beer poured a bright caramel color with a huge foamy orange-tan head that towered over the glass, lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was sweet golden fruits and toffee. The flavor was bitter, dryish and malty with a sharp fruit presence and hints of wood and tobacco. Medium length finish. Medium body. Decent.

650ml bottle. Clear amber-copper body, medium beige head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, herbs, toffee, bread, a tad metallic. Taste of roasted malts, biscuits and bread, caramel, a touch of herbs and a little mineral aftertaste. Very enjoyable.

nice bitter. Enjoyable. Would love to see this as an ESB. Flavorful considering the ABV. Slippery mouthfeel which is very good. A bit of a hop kick at the end.

Fiche technique Style: Bitter Format: 650 ml Taux d?alcool: 4,4%

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2014 Clear but coppery colour with a decent off white head. Malty and biscuit aroma with a slight roasty note and some floral hops in the background. Medium to light bodied brew with a bitterness that is at the forefront of the flavour profile. I’ve had alot worse versions of this style. This one is actually pretty tasty.

650 mL bottle. Pours amber with a cap of off white foam. Black tea, dark bready notes, a hint of coffee and amber caramel on the nose. Balanced on the dry side, with a lightly lingering bitter finish. Light to moderate body with moderate carbonation, finishes clean. Authentic tasting and sessionable.
