COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based on beer recipes developed in the 1800s by traditional English brewers, this ale is well balanced with caramel malts and English hops. Historical records exist showing the importation of Fuggle and Golding hops to Upper Canada in the early 1800s, in fact it was well known for American invaders to demand food and beer from homesteads they occupied.

Golden amber with a thick head. Aroma of lightly spicy hops, fresh amber malts and some chewy crystal in the finish. Good for the style.

An amber ale with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, a nice nutty caramel malt with light grassy hops, faint herbal odors, OK. In mouth, a nice nutty caramel malt with grassy hops, rye bread, not bad.

Pour at the Ontario Brewing Awards. Amber coloured pour. Lightly sweet aroma a touch of earthy hoppiness. Malty and sweet with a touch of light bitterness. Tastes nice and fresh but too sweet by half.

2012-06-22. Hazy dark orange body with a nice foamy beige head. 3+ Mild flavour, fruity very light bitterness, muted sweet malt below. Mild aroma, dusty malt, fruity character, muted apple fruit, caramel malt. Average palate. Okay, but odd, the flavour does not quite come together for me. On Cask at C’est What Summer Festival of Craft Breweries, Toronto

Bottle, shared with TylerDurden. Tea coloured amber, medium off white head. Sweet toffee aroma and flavour, low hop character, but very clean. Pleasant but simple.

Bottle at ’Golden Tap Awards 2013’, beerbistro.. Pours a nice looking deep orange-ruby with a small diminishing frothy white head. Aroma of fruit and malt along with grapes and light hops. Slightly watery, but still good, flavour of fruit, sweet caramel malt, light hops and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good.

[4548-20120622] Cask. Subtle fruity soap shavings in the aroma with a hint of wooden slats. Slightly hazy, amber brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Toasted fruity grains flavour has a nice light yeasty aftertaste. Medium body. Good, drinkable, mellow. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

pours unclear golden orange, amber-ish, with a small white cap, some retention and lacing. nutty and fruity caramel, very fruity - small red and yellow fruits, grassy, peppery, hint of licorice and other belgian-esque spices - imparted by yeast and not added spices - beautiful spicy esters in fact. moderate carbonation, light body - nice texture, balanced grassy-earthy-spicy finish - very nice mouthfeel. solid bitter - bomber for myself. much enjoyed!
