COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Based on beer recipes developed in the 1800s by traditional English brewers, this ale is well balanced with caramel malts and English hops. Historical records exist showing the importation of Fuggle and Golding hops to Upper Canada in the early 1800s, in fact it was well known for American invaders to demand food and beer from homesteads they occupied.

Pours clear dark copper with a moderate off white top. Aroma is caramel and earthy malts with a small hop presence. Taste is smooth caramel malts with earth tones. Nice body and earthy hop bitterness in the end. Could be a regular for me.

Clear copper pour, small white head. Solid cereals, quite nutty, a little roast, with a touch of grassy hops. Perfect mouth feel, and carb. Wonderful nutty finish, with more medium bitter malts. Quite refreshing, and a super sesssion ale.

Golden amber with a thick head. Aroma of lightly spicy hops, fresh amber malts and some chewy crystal in the finish. Good for the style.

Bottle. Slightly hazy brown-amber with a good sized just-off-white head that recedes quickly. Aroma is surprisingly complex - leafy hops, bread crust, slightly fermented fruit, a bit of musty book. Nice body, medium-full with a great crispness on the palate. Flavour is interesting - caramel malt, almost-burnt toffee, herbal hops, and tart apple. The latter note makes me think that there might be a mild infection at work, but even if there is, it’s not unpleasant - it actually gives it a nice moreish finish. Not bad!

Bottle - pours a clear shimmering red-amber with a sticky off white cap that laces well. Light carbonation. Aroma is demure but distinct- sweet amber malts over spicy hops and a hint of fruit. Creamy mouth feel malty-fruity character, medium-light body. Flavour has hints of caramel, succulent fruit tones, spicy hopping and a solid malt back bone -. goes to a clean lightly bitter finish. This is a good example of a craft session bitter - I could tilt a few of these in a sitting - mild but flavourful, drinkable in the max!

pours unclear golden orange, amber-ish, with a small white cap, some retention and lacing. nutty and fruity caramel, very fruity - small red and yellow fruits, grassy, peppery, hint of licorice and other belgian-esque spices - imparted by yeast and not added spices - beautiful spicy esters in fact. moderate carbonation, light body - nice texture, balanced grassy-earthy-spicy finish - very nice mouthfeel. solid bitter - bomber for myself. much enjoyed!

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2014 Clear but coppery colour with a decent off white head. Malty and biscuit aroma with a slight roasty note and some floral hops in the background. Medium to light bodied brew with a bitterness that is at the forefront of the flavour profile. I’ve had alot worse versions of this style. This one is actually pretty tasty.
