from notes at Cask Days 2011. Cloudy amber colour w. a slight foamy head. Aroma of sweet malts, with some off flavours as well. Somewhat strong alcohol flavour.

Bomber from the brewery, labelled as brewery aged barleywine so assuming its an aged version of this. Hazy amber with biege head. A nice fruit apricot and peach aroma, alcohol, sweet malt. Moderate body yet light carbonation with a mild tang which becomes more prevalent even though overall its sweet. Little odd but pleasant.

October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. Cloudy orange, minimal off-white head. Fairly unmemorable aroma (some resin, citrus juicy malt, but neither in abundance) - a bit sour in a good way, definite alcohol presence - just makes it to 7/10. Taste - is like a green-hop English barley wine or old ale - leafy, a bit sour, not piny or juicy enough to be American style for me - woody, boozy and dry. Average body, astringent, fairly still, and sour in the finish; boozy.

Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #22 of festival. Pours a murky amber with a small diminishing bubbly off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and light hops. Flavour of caramel malt, lots of sugary sweetness and very light hops. Not really much of a finish to speak of. Average bodied. Not much going on here, just sweet and malty, not really my thing.

[4074-20111030] Cask. Mild herbal toffee aroma. Hazy, dark brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel malt flavour. Medium-full body. Average. (7/3/6+/3/13) 3.2

Aroma malty character with mild alpha hop character. Peppery hints , alcohol and smoke.
Appearance hazed amber look with medium top.
Flavor and Palate : salty, rough with notes of bubblegum, sour wort, berry. Finish of raw malty substance. Poor.

A reddish amber barley wine with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, a rather bizarre sweet corn, corn stalks and butterscotch, so-so. In mouth, a sweet cloying malt with boiled corn, oily mouthfeel, ginger, bad. On tap at Toronto Cask Days, Oct. 30 2011

2011-10-30. Hazy dark amber body, small creamy beige head. 3+ Interesting hop aroma, bit grassy, bit of a toasty caramel malt character. 7+ Flavour is similar, interesting hop profile that I find hard to pin down, modest malt with lightly caramel touches. Smooth average bodied palate. Bit mild overall, but interesting and enjoyable. Strikes me as more of an "English Strong" than a barleywine at times. Cask Days 2011, Toronto

Cask Days 2011. Malty aromas, great amount of Bottom line: too sweet but decent. Above average mouthfeel, lots of malt but complexity overriden by substantial sweetness, cloying. Hops make an appearance, would like more sustained presence. So-so drinkability.
