3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Volo, March 25. Pours an oily-looking black with a small light-brown head. Nice aroma with lots of chocolate, some light chilies and sweet roasted malt. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, chocolate and chilis which show mostly in the finish. The more you drink it the spicier it gets, it builds on you. Average bodied. I really liked it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
[4351-20120325] Tap. Rich roasted cocoa malt aroma. Black body with a long-lasting foamy brown head. Roasted wood malt flavour has a seriously hawt chili finish. Full body. Packs a hot punch but has quite a solid roast base. (7/4/6/3/15) 3.5

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
March 25, 2012 - draught at Volo’s Beer for Boobs event. My glass sat for 15 minutes before I got to it, still had a solid creamy light brown head - also thick looking and essentially midnight black - 4+. Smells thick - oily deep roast, almost charred - I dont really get then chili, but it is slightly vegetal, and oddly wheat-y - mostly heavy treacle with a bit of ripe plum fruit in amongst the roast and bitterness. Taste - oh there’s the heat - not lava hot, but aggressive and active, grabbed the back of my palate and throat and would not let go - dry herbal bitterness, mild alcohol and burnt treacle all take a backseat to the pepper ... nice pepper, actually, not stinky vegetable pepper like some - not sweet at all. Thick, airy, acidic, stick, burn-y, with a huge blackstrap malt backbone to the long-lasting dry acidic burn it leaves you with - great stuff, would be a perfect winter warmer pint.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2012-03-25. Black body with a nice tan head. 3+ Interesting aroma, sweet malt, muted cocoa, modest spice and chili character. 7+ Flavour is burning to a level that is higher than my tolerance for heat, but still manages to leave a bit of lingering roast malt in the finish and whispers of chocolate/cocoa. Average bodied palate. Impressive that they managed to let the beer shine through a bit, but the burn dominates for me to a point where I couldn’t possibly finish a glass on my own. Curious to know what people with stronger heat tolerances than me thought of it. On tap at Volo Beer 4 Boobs event, Toronto
