2011-10-26. Dark lightly hazy red-brown body small frothy beige head. 3+ Flavour is quite malty up front with a dark malt character, toasty nutty accents, light bitterness that balances it throughout. Dry lingering note in the finish is lightly alcoholic. Muted touches of cocoa. 7+ Sweetish malt aroma, toasty accents to a caramel malt sweetness in the core. Smooth medium bodied palate is lightly carbonated. Rather nice, mild alcohol and bitterness grows as it warms, to its detriment for my tastes. Enjoyable. Cask at Volo, Toronto

Cask at Volo. Pours a thick murky amber-red with a spare diminishing off-white head -- quite good looking. Aroma of grain, caramel malt, some buttery notes and vanilla. Flavour is quite fruity (dark fruit) along with caramel malt, some toastiness and a light bitter finish. Average bodied. A pleasant beer, "Reds" are often crap but I enjoyed this.

[4043-20111026] Cask. Mild vanilla woody caramel aroma. Hazy, dark amber brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. More vanilla and caramel malt flavour is a little watered down but still has a bitter greeny bite. Medium body. Tasty but watery; would try again after a little aging. (7/3/6/3/14) 3.3

Cask days 2011. Good amber pour, light white bubbly head. Very light hopping, a little piney, some resins. Nice malt profile, good grains, cereals. Medium bitter finish. A great session beer. Nothing out of this world, but i really enjoyed it. Reminded me alot of what alot of macro breweries try to brew and miss the mark. A drinkable mainstream ale.

A very decent cask served at the pre-cask festival at Bar Volo. A very nice and complex malting along with a well integrated bitterness that made for a very nice drinkability. Likely in the 5-5.5% range ABV. Good craftmanship and a very good cask beer.
