Upon opening the bottle, which was stuck shut from all the sugar in the beverage, a foul aroma arose that caused my right eye to twitch and water. This beverage was flat as a water and tasted like alcohol with a good dose of white sugar. When swallowed this liquid leaves a burning sensation on the back of the throat. I gave this beer one point for it not killing me. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Bottle. Pours a nice clear amber color with a thick and long lasting off-white head - looked good in the glass, but this was as good as it gets. Aroma of soapy, corny malts and floral hops - reminded me more of a lager aroma than an ale. Flavor is adjuncty sweet, with metallic notes and more of the floral hops and a rather unpleasant wet newspaperish acid aftertaste. Light body and gentle carbonation. Guess I shouldn’t expect much from a French beer and a macro at that. WISEGUY572 (1245), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

The bottle alone should be good for more than that. My thought was of a very weak Irish whiskey. Not very hoppy, and maybe a taste of alcohol that would be hidden by the style. But this is a French beer, not a west coast American pale ale! Basically a mild, pleasant, mouth-fillling beer with not much of a finish. A little sour, a little malty, a little like a whiskey, without much hops, but nothing about it was off. Maybe not great bang for the buck in a New York I’ve learned more, maybe they’ve gone down hill. Moderate floral hops, almost a cliche, some caramel malt, but very little to recommend it. I switched pretty quickly to an adequate red table wine. frylock (1024), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 25, 2005 Pale yellow with a thin white head. Some grains, and grass in the aroma. Not much flavor, but this is not offensive. Not good, but better than expected. Strykzone (1468), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2005 Ok, lets get the cool bottle part out of the way first. You gotta like it. My first thought while pouring was motor oil. It is a very similar color. Of course, motor oil with a significant head! Actually a nice looking beer. The aroma didn’t really grab me. A mix of stale beer with over ripe fruit. However, there was nothing at all negative about the flavor or palate. Both were very enjoyable. The beer seemed to improve as the glass emptied. Such a pleasant brew, how can this be rated so low? A 16%? No way! It felt a premium beer in the mouth. This is NOT a 16%. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 10, 2005 Amber colored, as one might expect from a beer called "Fischer Amber". Bready, yeasty aroma, with a surprising whiff of alcohol. Very smooth palate. Very sweet tasting - notes of fruit (figs?), with a winey, peppery finish. KarmanGhia (276), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 7, 2005 This beer pours a very thin caramel color with a small, diminishing, offwite head. The nose is weak and, um, pilsner-esque (which sucks). This beer hardly tastes like an amber ale - it is far too light and fluffy. It comes across more like a pale lager. Once I got over the initial disappointment, however, the qualities of the brew - its very light and inoffensive fruitiness and its pleasant and silky mouthfeel - saved it from utter disaster.
