TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 19, 2005 Bottle. Pours amber with a tall foamy white head. Nose is sweet malts, light caramel, ripe fruits, flowery hops and light alcohol. Taste is sweet as well with rich malts, flowery hops, lgiht grass, ripe fruits, light caramel, and faint herbal notes. Body is medium and has big carbonation to it. Finishes sort of on the down side. There’s light grassiness, and sweet malts with faint caramel, an odd meaty type taste, and a pleasant hop bitterness. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA May 6, 2005 Updated: Jul 6, 200515!!!! OUT OF 100????? You guys gotta be kidding. This beer has a very generous amber hue with a sweet malty nose. It’s a little over-carbonated, but I think this adds to it’s refreshing quality. The best way to enoy this beer, right from the bottle, (letting it warm up a little) and be thirsty.
And the bottle is a treasure for any homebrewer, I’ve thrown parties with these so I could bottle a batch. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Apr 27, 2005 Roasted malt galore makes this one a treat. Nice balance of the aforementioned malt and the hops. Pours a deep amber color with little head, but that is just fine. A nice refreshing amber with just the right amount of bite. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Apr 14, 2005 Pours a light golden brown color. Aroma is grainy and slightly malty. A little medicinal as well. Slightly malty flavor with a bit of spice. A little bit skunky as well. Not very good. bourne (161), Suwon, South Korea Mar 27, 2005 Deep amber hue. Very mildly sweet, good palate. very drinkable and refreshing. from france which is a strike against it, atleast is alsace DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Mar 24, 2005 (22 oz flip-top bottle: $2.59 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) When I first started drinking "good" beer (well, better than Coors Light), I used to love this stuff, and had so many Fischer bottles, I used them to bottle all my homebrew. Of course, I quickly graduated to truly good beer, and so, it’s been 10 years since I last tried this Fischer beer. But you know, this isn’t all that bad a beer. But let me qualify that; not all that bad doesn’t therefore mean good. It’s only moderately flavorful, but I get a distinct British style nuttiness sitting on top a base that reminds me of a sweet cream ale. There’s some mild bitterness, but it certainly is just along for the ride rather than having any meaningful contribution. Although the body is at best medium, the palate is very creamy, soft and smooth. On the negative side, there is also a mild cardboard undertone. Surprisingly, the nose hardly shows any resemblence to the flavor, which is unfortunate. This beer smells very grainy, and that combines with some funky, nasty odor that’s pretty offensive. One of the worst smelling beers I can remember, and that even includes some infected beers! The color is light amber, and the sizeable off-white head shows pretty nice retention, holding a thin, complete layer for the duration of the session. There’s a thick rim of foam at the top of the glass, with many small spots of lace below. All in all, this beer runs the gamut from nice visuals, to mediocre flavor, to awful aroma, so I’d say it’ll probably be another 10 years before I try another bottle of this. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA Mar 24, 2005 light amber with mild aroma and flavor, but not at all a complex flavor. Fish (439), Kure, Japan Mar 15, 2005 Beer poured a light golden brown with a sizeable, light brown head. There wasn’t much in the way of aroma, and the flavor was really mild for an ale. What I did taste was pretty unpleasant sort of like sour milk. It was a little watery unfortuantely too. Cool looking bottle though. Oh well. I guess the moral of this story is: don’t judge a beer by it’s bottle.
