Commercial Description:
A slightly roasted malt gives it a light amber color. The rich flavor dominates the malt/hops balance and is very popular among most beer drinkers.

Dark straw pour, with some hopcit, cabernet, and fruit aromas. Tastes malty, with some fruit, hopcit, and a semi-dry, fruity, slight nutty finish. Slight apple cider element as it warmed. Not bad, but a probable "never again" for the Hop Doc.

Bottle. Cloudy amber with breadlike aromas and light malt. Taste is also light bodied with flavors that were both sweet and somewhat bitter. A bit too sweet and a bit too light.

A very delicate beer. Not a weak beer but not an overpowering beer. Nice grassy hops and light malt to balance it out. Some cheese taste too. I have to say this one does smell and taste like a lager and not an ale. But that aside this one is worth a try. Have it with your favorite french cuisine. Bon appetite.

First off, From the aroma to the flavor one thing is quite evident, and at odds with both the style distinction above and the word" ale" on the bottle...This beer is a LAGER!!! there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. I dont like lagers, and this was a lager and it tasted like hay.

Aluminum aroma, plastic head, and thin palate, yet crisp, bright, fruity, and rather drinkable when chilled. Overall an average beer that is a solid session performer in a really cool flip-top bottle that also works well for home-brew purposes. I’d try this again.

Nice beer, my father -in-law found this whilst on Holiday in Alsace, my wife told me about it while we were living in Italy we found it at Auchan in Roma, on Holiday in California I was surprised to find it at a place called Cost Plus World Market, cool place. It’s not an everyday beer, this is a beer while on holiday and just sit back and relax but I think it deserves an 14% overall rating. That’s all I have to say.

Good ciderish (amber) color with a big white head and planty of lacing. Lots of carbonation. Sort of sweetish nose, somewhat malty, maybe something akin to maple syrup. Different taste. Kinda sour at first, then sweet/dry. The flavors are like a lighty hopped (with an unusual hop flavor) aunt jemima. The finish is the best part of the beer because it is quick and painless. There seems to be some residual sweetness only on the tongue. I bought the 22oz bottle because it has a grolsch style closer and because I am going to fill it up off a growler. I only have 18oz left! The bottle will lead a happy 2nd life filled up with a 100pt beer, so I am happy for it.

Understand, I have nothing against the French despite the "red state" climate that we live in. Without their aid during the Revolutionary War, we wouldn’t have this nation that Dubya can condemn them from. But their beers... So far Belzebuth is the only one that I enjoy. This one pours a watery copper color with a quickly dissipating head. The aroma is cloyingly sweet, the only relief coming from a whiff of new mown lawn. It’s watery in the mouth. And sweet. But luckily the water cuts the sweetness. I didn’t detect any hops in the taste or finish. I could only bring myself to drink half of the bottle.
