DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Jan 2, 2005 First off, From the aroma to the flavor one thing is quite evident, and at odds with both the style distinction above and the word" ale" on the bottle...This beer is a LAGER!!! there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. I dont like lagers, and this was a lager and it tasted like hay. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Dec 30, 2004 Aluminum aroma, plastic head, and thin palate, yet crisp, bright, fruity, and rather drinkable when chilled. Overall an average beer that is a solid session performer in a really cool flip-top bottle that also works well for home-brew purposes. I’d try this again. JohnCiacci (16), Hackney, England Dec 23, 2004 Nice beer, my father -in-law found this whilst on Holiday in Alsace, my wife told me about it while we were living in Italy we found it at Auchan in Roma, on Holiday in California I was surprised to find it at a place called Cost Plus World Market, cool place. It’s not an everyday beer, this is a beer while on holiday and just sit back and relax but I think it deserves an 14% overall rating. That’s all I have to say. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Dec 10, 2004 Good ciderish (amber) color with a big white head and planty of lacing. Lots of carbonation. Sort of sweetish nose, somewhat malty, maybe something akin to maple syrup. Different taste. Kinda sour at first, then sweet/dry. The flavors are like a lighty hopped (with an unusual hop flavor) aunt jemima. The finish is the best part of the beer because it is quick and painless. There seems to be some residual sweetness only on the tongue. I bought the 22oz bottle because it has a grolsch style closer and because I am going to fill it up off a growler. I only have 18oz left! The bottle will lead a happy 2nd life filled up with a 100pt beer, so I am happy for it. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 2, 2004 Updated: Jul 12, 2005Understand, I have nothing against the French despite the "red state" climate that we live in. Without their aid during the Revolutionary War, we wouldn’t have this nation that Dubya can condemn them from. But their beers... So far Belzebuth is the only one that I enjoy. This one pours a watery copper color with a quickly dissipating head. The aroma is cloyingly sweet, the only relief coming from a whiff of new mown lawn. It’s watery in the mouth. And sweet. But luckily the water cuts the sweetness. I didn’t detect any hops in the taste or finish. I could only bring myself to drink half of the bottle.

YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Nov 30, 2004 Amber with a fleeting head. The nose is of the dishwater used to wash beer glasses. Flavor? Perhaps how that dishwater would taste. Nice bottle, however. I’d say oui, oui. No, I meant wee-wee. It’s piss. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Nov 29, 2004 Copper color under a fleeting white head. Nutty malt aroma.
The flavor is malty with a bit of hop bitterness, but this is just another boring amber ale really. Some dryness in the finish, but overall not much going on here. Cute little swing top bottle and easy drinking unassertive flavor should make this a good gateway brew for the macro drinker looking to try something more daring. Think baby steps here. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Nov 27, 2004 Poured orangy/yellow, not much head.smelled kind of fruity. Lots of carbination, almost like an apple cider. Some hop, not much. Just ok, finish has a slight alcohol taste.
