Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA Mar 24, 2004 Light amber in colour, frothy head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavour is malty and lightly hopped. Not a bad beer, but not a great beer either. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA Mar 21, 2004 color is light amber/copper, head is white and thin. aroma is slightly skunked, and cardboardy. what a shame.....not that it had anything going for it, but i'd like to see it at its best. there is at least a slightly fruity flavor. wulfhere (217), Billings, Montana, USA Mar 9, 2004 Golden/amber in hue with a decent head, with longevity to it.
Malt, caramel, some light toasted flavor. Little mouthfeel. Not much in the way of hop character. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Mar 6, 2004 Gold-amber, puffy off-white head. Nose cidery, some orange/lemon. Rather malty and sweet, bit of butterscotch, tastes a bit like a piece of toffee hard candy. Fruitiness is there, but it's mildly artificial with its sweetness. No real bitterness in the end, just some acidity that hangs around a bit too long. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Feb 19, 2004 Pale amber color with light fizzy white head and a little white lacing. The aroma is lightly citrusy with hops and a touch of base malts, not much caramel though. The flavor is a well rounded and balanced with a grainy flavor covered by a light poor hop flavor. The finish is watery and acidic. This starts off good but dissipoints as expected. Another $3 import in the books never to be drank again. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Feb 14, 2004 Sparkling clear, dictionary definition of amber. Small, creamy, white head. Very good retention and creamy lacework.
The aroma is of bisquit and beef broth. The flavor matches the aroma along with bonus notes of hearty twelve grain bread. Not quite balanced. A little on the sweet side. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The finish is medium-length and bitter-sweet.
Oristo (67), Orinda, California, USA Jan 28, 2004 Very disappointing. The bitter is quite hoppy with a long finish and a distinctive flavor. This came off very bland and water by comparison. I probably should have started with this and moved on to the bitter but that's the way it worked out. The flavor's more pedestrian, more generic euro-beer. The "Grolsch" bottles look nice but if I had to drink a Fischer, I'd go with the bitter instead of this. BeerRunner (144), San Diego, California, USA Jan 24, 2004 Carmel and honey overtones, no head, good color. An enjoyable Amber ale. I like this ale. Maybe not "world class", but not bad.
