jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Nov 15, 2003 Very effervescent amber colour with a thick dense off-white head. Very foul vegetable aroma with a bitter nuttiness. Medium to Light-bodied; Odd taste which tastes like coca-cola at first, then switches to a gross maltiness. Sweet caramel flavour, but doesn't work well with this one. Aftertaste shows a very odd flavour-not pleasing. Overall, the bad vegetable flavours and sweet tastes don't really fit and, and make it not refreshing at all. I bought this 12 ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York. eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Nov 15, 2003 I, too, am a little suprised by the below average ratings of this beer. Its certainly not bad. Nice aroma, copper-golden in color, pours with a thick, sweet head. Everso slightly smoky; a bit sour, not really too bitter. A definite orange taste; like an orange peel toasting on a warm stovetop. Comes in a great, self-corking 22 ounce bottle which I saved and made salad dressing in. The beer in more filling than refreshing. Autumnal. A good food beer! fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA Nov 13, 2003 Did you know this comes in a swing top bottle? That it was on sale? Um, what else? It was stuck back in the back of the shelf out of the light where even a 6'+ me couldn't reach it without standing on something. Oh, the beer. Wasn't really worth the reach. Or it was a reach to call it beer? No, that's mean. Not that bad. Not that good either. haddon90 (1035), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Nov 13, 2003 Very week pour with a small head. Not much of an aroma that I could pick up. Very smooth easy taste, but that's about it. A below average beer. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Nov 6, 2003 Dull amber color with a light beige head. Dry grain and wood aroma. Caramel and simple sugar flavors. Dry weak finish. Any favorable flavors are out of balance with the unfavorable. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Nov 5, 2003 Sweet, a bit of corn in the aroma. Sweet taste at first but quickly dries out to a papery-like taste. Nice amber color, though, with a thin white head. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Oct 28, 2003 Updated: Jul 16, 2004I was a little surprised by the low rating. I thought it was at least ok. Orange color with some faint hops, citrus, and alot of apples in there. A little watery and certainly nothing very impressive. But it will do and the bottle is quite interesting. Trappist (279), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 24, 2003 I was surprised by this ale. It was not the best I have ever had, but it was pretty good. Very noticable alcohol flavor in the first few sips. This is also a very dry and somewhat citrusy flavor with moderate carbonation. I agree with dwyerpg it is a neat bottle.
