Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks SV!). Pale goldeny amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some slight wooden notes, barnyard as well as mild notes of herbs. Flavour is caramel malts, some slight earthy notes, mild nuts as well as some wooden notes. Not a winner, but not a total loser either.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JFGrind (1552) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 24, 2010
Wasn’t sure what to expect with a French brewed amber ale. Flavor of citrus, apple sweetness, mild bitterness, overall a drinkable beer. 22 ounce swingtop bottle that I’ll use in the future for homebrew. Fischer Amber was priced right, and reminded me of an English style amber ale.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Rustyham (1303) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 23, 2010
Color is a pinkish peach pale while aroma is a sweet apple cider. flavor is sugary and cidery with a faint light malt. Palate is almost nil. Bottle from Zeke’s on Miami Beach.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DeanF (1477) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - APR 15, 2010
Aroma of barley and alcohol, slight grassy hints. Decent looking drink, nice brown colour, plenty of head. Taste is slightly fruity, cherries mixed with chocolate and coffee, sweet finish.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 fidelis83 (1261) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - APR 12, 2010
Pours a clear, light amber with a 1 finger creamy white head that has good retention. Aroma is toasted malt, rice-y sweetness, a ferment twang and light caramel. Flavor is sweet cereal grains (heavy on the rice), light vegetal notes, tree fruit sweetness and some planty hops. Finishes grassy and sweet. Palate is lightish bodied slightly slick throughout, with a slightly drier finish and a light but sharp carbonation. Pretty tame even for an amber, but none too offensive.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 FreshHawk (596) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAR 14, 2010
Bottle.
A - Light tawny/copper color. Slightly above average off-white head with decent retention.
S - Grain and some caramel malt, slight apple and lemon scent along with some earthy/herbal hops.
T - Mirrors nose for the most part. Mostly grainy and caramel malts with some nuttiness too. Alcohol is present but not really strong. Slight earthy/herbal hops.
M - Light body and somewhat thin.
D - Fairly drinkable, but with the flavors, I probably wouldn’t drink a lot of these.
Notes: Not a horrible beer, but slightly below average.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 notalush (3616) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2010
Initial mild sweetness makes way for some dry, crackery malts, a touch of toasted bread - some sweetness returns, followed shortly by a mild, buttery, diacetyl flavor - a sort of artificial, almost metallic character on the back end - I don’t know why the hell I bought this.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 obguthr (2383) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - FEB 17, 2010
Cidery nose. Clear amber, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Weak malt then cider at midpalate. Stale malt finish. Drinks like snakebite in a bottle. Adulterated, but different.
