2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
10-Jun-08 (500-ml swing-top bottle: Purchased 02-May-08 for $3.79 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This beer doesn’t exactly have an offensive taste, it’s just incredibly bland on the palate. The entry is sweet, creamy and grainy, but only very slightly flavored with floral hops, meaning, there’s barely a hint. The gentle and light bitterness fades off the palate quickly to reveal a strong suggestion of lees that’s reminiscent of Champagne. The beer smells bready and somewhat grainy but is generally only mildly aromatic, which is quite fitting since it’s only mildly flavorful as well. On the palate, the beer feels extremely slick and oily. Carbonation is rather light, but unfortunately, without any hops to speak of, the medium-bodied beer tends to come across as heavy and unrefreshing. The only area where this beer truly shines is in the appearance -- it looks gorgeous in a tall pilsener glass! The beer itself is medium-golden in color but the slight haze is a minor quibble. A considerable number of carbonation streams rise slowly through the beer. Extensive lacing consists of multiple rings of varying width, and these decorate more than half the glass.

65cl Bottle. I was misled by the ABV and the name "Blonde". This is just an ordinary pilsener, and not a good one. Very faint aroma and flavour, some malts, cardboard, some hops. Same bottle as Grolsch, and imo the same quality.

Bottle. Golden color, white head. Leather aroma, malty and bready. Bready flavor, malt, some citric notes. Spicy hop finish. Way too expensive!

Bottle from IrishBoy. Light amber with a loose off white head. Aroma is a light honey, light maltiness. Taste is cheap, light dusty maltiness, honey.

We were charged $9+tax for this steaming pool of piss in a pretentious French upper east side restaurant in NY. Quite simply the worst beer we ever tasted! If only we could go back and take them up on their offer on the (otherwise inexcusable) Amstel Light instead,

Much better in person than bottled. Sampled in Colmar. Still light on the smell, but at least a bit of malt to go with the floral hops. Doesn’t have that awful "shake your head, get that thing off me" reaction the bitter always gives you. Too much yeast, watery but not like others in the same ilk, but at least passable.

Wow folks are harsh on this beer. This is actually my first French beer, I think. aroma plain.. texture exiting. The flavor first hits you like a sip of watery Budweiser or something plain... then the after taste comes out of nowhere and does this delicious romp through a wheat field. I like it.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
22oz bottle. Gold with a fleeting white head. Skunky and corny aroma, but the skunk fades and leaves a mostly vegetal, and unappealing nose. The flavor is pretty bland, with slight soapy hops, but no noticeable bitterness really. A little sweet. The body is substantial, but a little too carbonated. Eh, nothing worth getting again.

Had and old bottle from a SD liqour store near dowtown, ehh. a pretty good beer in theory but I may have gotton a bad bottle, it was a little sour and the carbonation seemed a little off, the hops were pretty slight but it still had pretty good legs, would have liked a better kept bottle~

bottle drank in Lorraine: arpma was cereal malt. poured a clear golden color with an ample amount of carbonation. flavor was lots of cereal malt with a hop balance. crisp mouthfeel. Overall not a bad beer nothing special. but don’t know why it is really reated so pourly.
