.5l pour from tap into Weizen glass at the brewpub in Vienna. Hazy, orange, classic wheat beer. Exactly what you’d expect: wheaty and fairly unobtrusive. Refreshing and a good pair with some wiener schnitzel, but nothing special.

Oct. ’14. On tap at the brewpub. It poured hazy golden body with quite small head for the style. Lightly sour hop aroma, obviously unpasteurized with lot of herbal hop that overwhelmed wheat notes. Flavor was, accordingly, bitter. Not quite what you expect from a German wheat ale, not really malty and aromatic (estery) as they are. Thinner to medium body with pleasant, lightly herbal bitter finish. Some banana and chalk were more evident towards the end. Weird, even if they intended to make a hopped weizen, it missed body and real wheat notes to balance it out. Reading the other reviews make me think it was just the batch.

Tastes like watery banana bread. Basically un-drinkable; nobody I was with wanted more than their first sip.

Hazy banana yellow with a white, thin, creamy, lasting, lacy head. Smells of banana wheat, tasted malt, coriander and yeast. Medium to full thin body with soft carbonation. Tastes of sweet sugary malt, with banana, soft yeast and coriander. Overall a very sweet weissbier with a soft level of bitterness.

draught at the brewpub. Cloudy pale yellow, creamy white head. Yeasty and wheaty with quite some nice hop flavours, slightly grassy, with a shy fruity touch coming through. Highly drinkable.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is dry wheaty and slight estery. Dry estery flavoured. Mild bitterness coming through. Slight citric and with a mild phenolic touch. Ends dry estery.

Draught at Fischer Bräu, Vienna. Murky golden with a medium white head. Looks good in the glass. Nose of wheat, candied banana and citrus. The flavour is wheat, banana, citrus and clove. Thin-medium bodied. An OK weizen but a shadow of the one over at Salm’s.

Tap at the brewpub
Poured hazy-opalescent golden body with a fantastc, superb creamy off white head. Malty, caramel aroma with a character of a classic hefe: phenolic banana, citrusses, spicies like clove and cinnamon. Smooth mouthfeel with a fine texture with fruity, citrussy flavor on a malty and caramel based taste. Nice fruity and spicy aftertaste. Classical one.

Poured with a golden, almost orange color and a white, lacing head. Strong citrus aroma with honey, fruits and a slight hint of coriander. Sweet taste with just the right amount of carbonation. Nicely done.
