COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a black, medium-bodied, yet robust brew with a rich chocolate flavor and dry finish. The predominate flavor characteristic, that of smooth, dark, bittersweet cocoa, lingers on the palate from first pint to last. This is a hearty brew of seven varieties of malt, including Pale, Carastan, Crystal, Brown, Black, Munich, and an especially generous portion of Chocolate malt. Mudshark Porter gains its bitterness from Columbus hops, and its gentle hop flavor from a late addition of Willamette hops in the kettle.

Big rich malt chocolate nose, decent hop bite with that great porter/stout semi-bitter dry roasted finish, yummy for the tummy if you like them dark and robust, if not stick to BUD!

Huh only 30 ratings? Big, Robust and Dry. I have had this on cask as well and it was excellent. Page 166 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide only 410 out of 500 Classic Brews to go.

On tap at brewpub. I love me a good porter...and this is tasty. Black with a chocolate aroma....also some espresso notes. Fairly light porter, but still packs in good taste. The aroma really comes through in the taste. Good hops finish for a porter. Awesome.

WOW! this beer is quite delicious on the cask. served just at room temperature this beer shines. Pours a dark brown with a fluffy beach foam-ish brown head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee, tastes like silk. love all around.

Tap @ Parkway, Dark brown-lack pour with ruby highlights, a short beige head and moderate lace. Nose is roasty and a bit chocolate and peanuts. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation with a touch of slick oiliness near the end. Baking chocolate, dark roast malts, peanut butter, coffee, black cherries and some ethanol. The dry finish is charcoal, peanuts and moderately long. This is a prime example of what I’m looking for in a porter and a sessionable winter ale - my new favorite porter!

Tap at Kahootz: Brown with a light brown ring head. The aroma is tangy and roasted with flavors of chocolate and coffee beans lightly roasted. It has a nice finish although it doesn’t have that oily feel that often accompanies porters. Enjoyable!

Draft at the Issaquah (Rogue) Brewhouse. My 200th Washington beer. Cool! Pours deep, nearly opaque black, with just some flotsam and jetsam floating around for a head. Very restrained nose, almost pointlessly so--just a slight whiff of chocolate and roast. Big grainy body for a porter, with active carb and roasty sweet assertive flavors. Rich, satisfying mid-palate and a roasty, faintly resinous finish that sticks to your ribs a bit. I can’t remember if it’s quite this good in bottles, but this is a dandy draft beer.

Draft at Beveridge Place Pub. This beer kind of blurs my distinctions between porters and stouts. Pours an opaque black with a lacy tan head. The aroma is vanilla and coffee. Creamy medium body. More coffee in the taste with some caramel to sweeten it up a bit. Dry finish with a touch of smoke.

[3031-20100629] Tap. Chocolate coffee roast and toasted bread aroma. Dark dark brown body with a medium-lasting creamy tan head. Lots of roasted malt and fruit and coffee flavour with a long bitter aftertaste of coffee grounds. Full body is bitter. A great end to the sampler, tasty.
