RCL (999), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jan 13, 2008 Superb balance. Oak is seamlessly integrated. Amazingly creamy on the palate, I wish I could give it a 6. This is a super beer. My breath smells delicious after I drink this beer. I don’t even know what that means, but this stuff is good.
RagallachMC (630), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2008 12oz bottle. 2005. Aroma: Rich caramel, toasted malt, almonds, raisins. Lots of oak. Significant alcohol note. Appearance: Deep rusty brown in color and clear. Off-white head was full and foamy with good retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Big oak note upfront. Vanilla, smoke, caramel, toasted nuts, dried fruits. Alcohol is a little hot at times. Starts sweet, a touch of bitterness midway through, and then finishes fairly dry. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Lots of alcohol warmth in back of mouth and into throat. Overall: The name ain’t kidding. Strong oakiness throghout. A nice sipper. Alcohol could be toned down a touch. DaSilky1 (1590), San Diego, California, USA Aug 10, 2008 poured clear chestnut with frothy white head. nose of aged malt, toffee, tobacco, peat, vanilla, raisins, and smoke. super thick malty flavors...lots of peat and smoke and sticky sweet and chewy caramel., thick creamy mouth, but seriously, it couldn’t get any maltier than this...this is a malt monster. there’s significant hop backing that is balanced and not overwhelming, but i think the beer could do without it though it might contribute to its aging, which i would highly recommend because this shit is going to be off the hook in 3 years. the alcohol is somewhat hot and if not for the hop bitterness, it could work with the maltiness...but hot bitterness is a slight distraction here. i dig it though. scrizzz (473), kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 31, 2008 some brown sugar but faint. picturesque deep sienna. loads of subtle character. oak, dried orange, peach, smoke, sweetpea, and brown sugar. great beer Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle sampled at the Columbus tasting (05): Amber pour here with a wispy white head.
