2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crockett (925) - Steelback County, - DEC 12, 2005
Red amber with a limp frothy white head. Light citric, cereal, and caramel nose. Modestly sweet with orange, grain, and half decent hops. In the end it’s only the sum of it’s parts and is pretty boring.

12 oz. bottle from an English pint. Pours a light amber/orange color with a moderately tall, foamy offwhite head. Aroma has a lot of crystal malt with some definitely peppery, classic Hallertau hops. Taste has some light caramel up front with some light zesty Hallertau hop character. Overall, it is incredibly watery. The aftertaste is at least "wet" and refreshing, making it a decent session ale, but overall, it is watery and pedestrian. Another swing and a miss for the "organic" beer market.

12 ounce bottle at beer tasting in Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for Craft Beer Week. Good!

Originally reviewed: 5/21/11. Cool bottle sent down to me from my brother. Never had anything from these guys, so, excited to give ’em a try. 22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark rusty ruby color with a small white head capping it off. Light lace left behind. The nose is not hoppy in any way, which is odd, given the style. Lots of toffee and malt in the aroma. Light fruitiness on the finish.
The mouth is moderately full. Ample carbonation. Creamy finish. The flavors are a little tame as well. This is definitely erring on the side of malts, rather than hops. Sweet caramel, toffee, breads. Very faint bitterness. I wish there were a bit more punch to this, but I’m not surprised given its organic background. My experience with most ’organics’ is that they are usually mellow, and lacking in zip. Still, not a bad beer to have on a warm afternoon.

Originally reviewed Feb. 18, 2007:
poured in a tripel chalice. probly not a good choice. anyhoo, head was very little, and didn't last. left a sparse skim in glass. aroma shows hints of roasted malts and a sweet floral fragrance. taste reflects the malt smells. light hops present. goes down easy and mouthfeel is decent. probly won't get this beer again to just drink.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Aquilo (464) - Berkeley, California, USA - APR 18, 2012
Bronze color with a small head. Aroma is wood, wet leaves, and eucalyptus. Flavor is pleasantly bitter, with some cedar in the finish. Palate is smooth and creamy, but a bit oily as well. Overall, this beer reminds me of a walk in the woods. Not bad at all.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 patricks110 (914) - Alberta, CANADA - APR 1, 2012
Really like this one overall. Except for the Winterfish, this is the best one yet. Pours out a bright amber with hues of orange along the glass. A thin cap of liught beige head and massive bands of lacing all over the glass. The nose has a sweet caramel and grain prominent malt and a light floral hop. A bit of a skunky note, but oddly appetizing aroma. The taste is sweet and lightly malted with nice cereal grain notes and light citrus hopped notes. Not too astringent or bitter, but nicely balanced. Overall, a fantastic session amber

Bottle,
this ale had a clear red pour with some burnt orange color and a few particles in the glass, and made an off-white one finger head that receded, effervescence was a little less than medium with a center stream and a few bubbles here and there, this beer left some spots and fingers on the sides of the glass, no sediment in the bottle,
the aromas were light toasted malt and bread, caramel with some honey sweetness and very light hops,
this beer had flavors of toasted malt, faint nut and caramel, there was a faint hop bitterness after the finish,
the mouth feel was light with soft carbonation,
an ok drink.

A very balanced ale. Some mildly sweet malt (caramel, nut, toast) with a bit of a hoppy finish that is not extensively bitter. Quite drinkable and a good session ale.

from a bottle. nice light brown hazy look about it. smell is floral hints and malt. strong initial personality. yes, quite strong. rather difficult for a lager lover. malty alky finish says this must be at least 6 percent.

Bottle. A pleasant bread, hop and caramel aroma and flavored beer. Nothing too dominant, but hey, it’s organic and still has flavor.
