COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silver Medal, Golden or Blonde Ale category: 2010 Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition Light bodied and golden, Fish Tale Organic Blonde Ale is a matchless companion to the glories of a Cascadian summer. Brewed with just a schmatering of rye, Organic Blonde sports subtle spicy tones that complement the honey sweetness of its pale malt to a tee. To balance its deliciously delicate malt character, we brew this Organic seasonal ale with Glacier hops. These impart a savory aromatic finish with just the gentlest tang. Whether served with saucy summer barbecue, or as a thirst quencher in its own right, Fish Tale Organic Blonde Ale perfects the sweet leisure of the summer days. Or nights.

Pours a hazy yellowish-orange with no head. Not too heavy on hops or taste. Pretty boring beer, only 4% alcohol so you better plan on drinking a boat load of these if you want to get tanked. You can’t really expect much from hippy organic crap.

Pours a hazy golden yellow/orange with smaller white head. Smell is faint skunk hops, mild citrus, bread. Taste is orange citrus with a mild metallic mid palate. Nothing special but quaffable.

Clear golden color, small white head. Light bubblegum aroma. Light body with watery palate. Light fruity, bubblegummy and grainy flavors. This blonde has overall quite weak flavors.

Not a great aroma. Flavor is OK but a little thin. Generally decent but boring.

12-oz. Pours a hazy dark gold with a loose white head that fades quickly to not much at all. Loose stringy, drippy lace. Grassy, nutty nose. Creamy medium body. Grass, nuts, corn, and toast on the mid palate. Mild finish. Pleasant and inoffensive in every way.

Bottle:   Translucent straw in color, mild carbonation, moderate foamy white head, spotty lacing.   Grassy nose, slightly musty and barnish.   Not earthy/grainy that I thought it would be.   Sweet grassy start, decent maltiness.   Nothing about this seems "organic" to me, which is a plus.   Backside is a little bit of wet paper/cardboard, but its not heavy.   Not very bright, almost a little dull.   Could use a little bit of a hop bite to maybe counter act the fairly strong malt base.   Or just a little brighter sweetness.   Lingering grassiness, fairly heavy.   This one was much more full bodied than I expected, and clean too!   I can see this being a hit during the summer, especially those that could get it fresh down in Olympia.   Better than expected.

Clear golden yellow, thin white head fades quickly. Aroma of grain, skunked hops, mild tangerine, has a very wit-like aroma. Taste is much more bland, skunked hops again, some mild bitterness. Grainy, watery. Probably should have bought this one in the summer and drunk it then.

Bottle. Pours a clear, light amber color with a very fizzy head that goes away quickly. Aroma is hops and rye with some yeast aroma, smells appetizing. Flavor is light with rye coming through and a slight spiciness. Nice malt presence as well. Very light body, thin texture. Soft carbonation compared to how lively it seemed when first poured.

beerbill (2938) - Laurel, New York, USA - JUL 17, 2010
12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with joeneugs. Pours a hazy pale gold with a thin-moderate white head that dissipated after the first sip and left very little lace. There is not much going on with the aroma save a few wisps of apricot along with some very light malt. The flavor is in a word, mild. It begins with light malt followed by some equally mild grassy hops and just a bit of apricot. Very light bitterness at the finish. This went down quite easily on a hot steamy Long Island summer afternoon and quenched my thirst well.
