Fish Tale Organic India Pale Ale is a medium-bodied beer with a rich golden color. The organic pale and crystal malts lay down a firm malt body. This provides the backbone for an assertive hop profile featuring organic Pacific Gem. The moment the Mighty Fish Brewers sampled this pungent and resinous New Zealand hop, they knew it would be perfect for their Organic I.P.A. The result: A Cascadian treasure.

12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a hazy gold with good carbonation and a rocky white head. Aroma is hoppy with a back note of malt. It has a medium body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor is malt, a slight fruitiness, then a nice bitter kick. After taste is more bitterness and hop spice that gives white pepper. Overall it’s a good IPA, well balanced and tasty, but nothing special.

12 oz bottle. Scent is of olives, yet not unappealing. Definitely a heavy caramel hit followed by earthy citrus and lingering bitterness. I’m finding this one enjoyable but just a bit above average.

Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Sweet malty caramel nose, light citrus. Clear gold/copper color, frothy head which descends into lines of thin cirrus clouds. Hard hit of caramel at first, then a soft saggy pillow of bittering. The malt seems musty and earthy. Medium-heavy body. Perfunctory nose. Big malty flavors but, as above, not completely pleasant.

Bottle: Served in a Duvel glass: Small creamy head. Beautiful hazy yellow beer. Aromas hops, orange fruit, creamy fruit, floral and light herbal, some yeast and crispy fruit tints. Nothing crazy or overhopped, but good aroma. Flavours of fruity and hoppy tones, floral, light yeasty, some bitters, yellow orange fruit, crisp and tasty! Aftertaste is fruity, floral, hoppy, bitter, nice. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. Nice

Medium/deep golden with a slight haze & small off-white head. Sweet caramel malt & floral/citrus hops. Bitter, dusty, sticky, solid hops with rock candy sweet malts hidden just under the surface. Surprisingly light and easy drinking at 6.5% ABV.

Hazy orange with a small head. Aroma is tropical fruit and floral hops with a malty base. Lingering medium bitter lemon notes that turns sweet right as it clears. Solid pint.

Poured from the 12oz bottle into a shaker glass. Amber color with no real head. Aroma is mild and bready. Flavor has some light breadiness with floral and resinous hops. Medium bodied with a long finish. Not super bitter but nicely balanced.

Aroma - the beer has more in the nose than in the taste and palate. Sweet malt and a mix of small pine and floral hops. Appearance - somewhat hazy sunny peach color, which a 2" white head. The head settles into a layer of foam. Decent lacing, especially at the top of the glass. Taste - is a light bitterness, their is a light sweetness as well. Flavor wise there isn’t an abundance. There is a a crystal malt and some delicate floral qualities. Palate - light body, thin feel, carbonation is approaching flat, there is a only a faint bitterness in the finish. Fairly abrupt.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2015 Drunk side by side with the Hodgson’s IPA bottle from World Beer Market. The psychedelic hippy label on this doesn’t really do it for me but it is a classic IPA copper gold with a solid light beige head of dense foam. The hop bouquet is citrus (lemon, candied grapefruit) & prickly pine that has a very robust malt sweetness supporting it. Similar mouthfeel in both beers with a soft round carbonation though the body is medium to light as opposed to the fuller Hodgson’s body. It’s got a more balanced flavor profile that features more fruitiness and malt than the Hodgson’s and that is a definite plus for me. The finish is a nice little bitter hop kick with a pine & mint bite. I enjoyed this one.
