3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle with different art to my trusty shaker glass. Pours the darkest brown, no light passes though the shaker. Small, quick light brown head with some lacing but no real retention. Aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is mainly sweet with a little bitterness in the back. Medium bodied, average carbonation, creamy oat mouth feel. Finishes bittersweet. Lots of tasting notes in addition to above, some nuts, smoke, a touch of vanilla and burnt sugar. Wow this brew really surprised me, must have been the label!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a rich dark brown. The head is minimal marble head and goes down very quickly. Aroma of roast malts and chocolate. Flavor of dark chocolate and malts. Relatively light and smooth in the mouth for the amount of flavor. Pretty good little stout.

Deep dark color with a tan head. Roasty, malty, smooth. Toast, coffee, and a long finish. Alcohol content is well hidden. A nice stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Winter Beer Fest, Philly: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, a bit of coffee, and a healthy bit of roasted malts. Taste is around the same areas. Somewhat bitter. Dark chocolate. Pretty smooth. Easy to drink. All good, except for the terrible label. Oh dear.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with only the smallest amount of brown tints getting through when held upto a light. All, wiht a very thin, half a centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of oatmeal, alcohol, grain, roasted malt, molasses, coffee and some earth - strong and pungent. Medium-bodied; Rich roasted malt flavours coupled with cereal, alcohol, raisins, molasses, caramel, figs and a lot of raisins and prunes at the end. Aftertaste shows some earthiness, mushrooms and a little caramel flavour, but a lot of roasted malt and prune notes to finish this off. Overall, a deep and long-lasting beer with a good, but not great profile. The pour made it appear that this would be better with a slightly better body, but this was simply good, but not outstanding. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 30-March-2014 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 18-November-2014.

Bottle. Nice visuals to start it off ... deep black, thick tan head, although it cedes quickly. Equally appealing aroma ... and the flavor is rich with smoky roast and a bit of very dark coffee. Good stuff. (#5747, 9/21/2014)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"One of the chocolateyist not chocolate stouts I’ve ever had. Heavily roasted and herbal aroma and flavor as well. Low bitterness and a little nutty. A little prickly but otherwise a pleasant surprise."

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma of burnt coffee and dark roasted pecans.
Very dark color with tan light brown head.
Super toasty and notes of black Patton.
Creamy and smooth with a long lasting finish.
Great for the price. Can be enjoyed with a good bowl on chili.
