Spawned Feb 2012 Pours dark, black with a quilt of residing tannish foam. Initial whiff has a substantial amount of butterscotch. After a while, I get through to olfactory senses of sweet toasty malt and hints of caramel and vanilla. Not really happy with the nose for an oatmeal stout. Flavor is malty with a good dose of oats and creamed coffee flavors. A nice full body with moderate on low carb and a slick finish. The nose on this one is dissatisfying, but the flavor and mouthfeel are nice. Serving type: bottle 04-05-2012

Draft at beer fest. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. The aroma has a lot of roasted notes, light coffee, light lactic quality. The taste is roasty and dry. Decent.

Pours midnight black with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate malts and oatmeal. The taste is initially smooth and creamy and ends bitter. There’s a decent amount of dark chocolate, oatmeal, and burnt malts in here. Overall pretty tasty but a little thin for a stout.

Bottle; Color: Dark Brown. Aroma: Sweet, malt. Flavor: Sugary palate. Tastes of herbs and somewhat earthy. Roasted flavoring, with notes of nuts and caramel. Would be a little better if it was a bit stronger and less watery.

12oz bottle from Total Wine in Sterling. Pours a slightly viscous, opaque black with some lacing, creamy, slightly off white head. Nice nose, dried malt, licorice, toasted bread, some light coffee, a little bit of dark chocolate, some dark brown sugar, a little touch of Kahlua. Flavor is a bit more straight forward, toasted bread, some cola, licorice, molasses, some caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy, slick but otherwise mostly dry. Solid stout.

Foxbush (1559) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2013
12 oz Bottle The stout poured a deep black with a 1/2 inch tan head that dissapated. There was a sweet roasted aroma of caramel. This stout also had a aroma of dried fruits. The stout had a taste of roasted malt, caramel and dark chocolate. This is an excellent stout with complex flavors. The stout had average carbonation. The finish was smooth with a mouthful of roasted malt.
