   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20
5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Bottle:   Surprisingly black, moderate frothy beige head, nice lacing.   Slightly tart roastiness up front, a little oatish.   While I thought this would be a sweet stout, it seems more robust and heaftier, hence I guess the Stout label.   Moderate hop bite, roasty, slightly acrid, but unfortunately not too smooth.   Seems a little rough around the edges.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   A touch dry and ashy as well.   Lingering roastiness, dusty, a little acrid, stale hoppiness, with very soft stale dark chocolate notes.   Interesting beer, but a little rough around the edges.   Wished it were a bit smoother, and a little less acrid.

BARLEYWINEO (106) - Tacoma, USA - APR 28, 2012
A: Poured a big, deep brown nearly black with a nice brown cap and some bubbles S: Big milk chocolate, hearty oats and a light whiff of coffee T: Followed the nose very well. Nice rich, smooth chocolate with a subtle oat presence, roasty a tad bitter with some light coffee M: Great body, lots of flavor, well carbonated O: Wow. Fish hit this one out of the park. I hope they are returning to their old ways. This beer was good but the overall drinkability of this beer was great. Well rounded.

Aquilo (560) - Berkeley, California, USA - APR 25, 2012
Black with a thick tan head. Smell is coffee, raspberries, and cut grass. Flavor is moderately bitter, with rich chocolate and coffee in the finish. The viscosity is a bit lighter than I would like, but overall, this is an excellent stout.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2012 Had this at Venti’s on tap... Salem, OR. 31 IBU and 5.5% ABV. Slight syrupy body but very chocolate-malty. Slightly sweet. Fairly flat nitro, pours a dark brown. Smooth finish. Had this bottled, smooth not syrupy and moderate toasted malts. Very good for a straightforward Stout

Bottle. Black pour with thin beige head. Malt, oatmeal and fuel aroma. Medium bodied. Flavour is toasty with oatmeal and cocoa. Hoppier finish than I expect from a stout

Dark brown in color, hazy with a thin tan head. Lots of chocolate and coffee flavor and aroma. Nice silky taste with the light oatmeal. This was a super rendition by the boys at Fish.

12 oz single from "Lifesource" Salem. $1.79 6.4% alc very nice looking ale..near pitch black body topped by a gorgeous thick and creamy tan head. After the good looks the aroma is on the slight side..toasted oats, coffee but faint. Taste is strange its all rather sunshine fruitiness at the start then the dark chocolate and mid level black coffee take over..then a bit o cream..and again a sweetish finish. Good palate to this one loved the different textures. Overall a very nice stout

mcberko (8115) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 5, 2012
12 oz. bottle, pours black with a reddish tinge and a small tan / beige head. Aroma of light roasted malts, toasted bread, some metallic notes and oats. Flavour is rather light for a stout, with lightly toasted malts, oats, and maybe some faint cocoa notes. Nothing offensive, but just quite weak - though still pleasant in its subtlety.
