4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sickboy282 (1115) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 25, 2005Poursa deep brown/black with a halo of an off-white head. Aromas of soy sauce, coffee, and somehow I find peppermint and licorice to have a strong presence in the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a nice lingering finish. The flavor actually pronounces the licorice flavor in this brew. Flavors of the common esspresso, chocolate, roasted malts are here as well, but is very unique because of the licorice. A little smokey, a little tobbocco, a little vanilla, this is actuall a very nice Impy. I have a 2001 oaked that I may need to delve into, or maybe I will have to wait.

Aroma’s of wood, oak, maple and aged malts. Black in appearance with a very thin foam rim. Aged flavors of charcoal, cocoa, wood and oak. Extremely dry with chocolate on the finish. Overall, this is a decent imperial stout. Very dry with strongly oak aged flavors. I’d give this a B+ rating.

Location: Bottle at Paul’s Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13
Aroma: The nose has coffee, chocolate, other dark malts, bread, roast, and peat
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a small tan head
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose, it leans sweet, and tastes a little older and dustier
Palate: The body is is rather creamy and smooth, and it is extremely easy to drink
Overall Impression:
This one tasted old, but it didn’t taste bad. I liked it quite a bit, but I felt like the flavor did suffer a bit from it’s age.

650ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light brown head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by chocolate with some coffee and hints of pine and citrus. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness followed up with a bit of coffee and citrus hop bitterness and a trace of pine needles. Medium to heavy body with modest carbonation leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate. A very well done brew for the style and one of my favorites, can’t wait to try this one again.

12oz bottle from Wade’s Wines. This might have some age on it but its still tasty. The hops have mostly faded but left sweet coffe to dominate the flavor. No hint of the alcohol too. Nice.
