Originally rated 09/19/11. Pours really nice like dark stone red. Thin tight head. Looks like cranberry juice mixed with a darker rum. Smell is nice and hoppy. Piney, resinous, slight bit of grapefruit. Light caramel kind of malty smell. Well taste is a winner. Tons of hops up front, again the pine, killer carbonation mizes with it, you get some strong malt back bone coming in and the end is awesome. Its got this like robust red wine flavour on the finish. Not in alcohol or anything, because you can’t taste it at all, but like the deep dark fruitiness of a malbec or something. But its not really sweet or anything just reminds me of that, because the hops last in full force with the beer. Mouthfeel is medium, not thick by any means. For anyone who thinks they don’t like red ales, or thinks that rickard’s red is the limits of the style, I implore you to drink this swiftly and in large numbers. Preferably more bottles than you have hands for.

650ml bottle pours deep amber color with 2 fingers of light beige head that settles down to some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel malts and some earthy hops. Taste is light caramel sweetness with hints of toasted bitterness followed by an earthy hop bitterness. The flavors blended well in this for me and I truly enjoyed the presentation of this fine brew.

Growler. Poured a lighter brown with a tan head that settled quickly to a ring. Floral aroma with a backing of malt. The flavor found caramel and spices with a hop background. Medium body and a mild bitterness.

Bottle. Rich copper. Fair dark cream coloured head. Sticky lacing. Thick caramel scent with tinges of alcohol and hint of spice or hop. Flavour is same components but in different proportion than the aroma. Alcohol is stronger. Caramel is mixed with some woody hops that carry a spicy edge.

Bomber from Craft Ale. Pours turbid ruby coppery (more toward ruby) with minimal off-white head. Looks like a big thick barleywine in the glass. Nose is old aley malt, heavy resiny hops, fruit. Damn, this one smells like a barleywine, too. Tastes rich, very piney hoppy, fruity, with substantial malt. Comes off like a impy red/barleywine hybrid. Works pretty well for me.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, hops, and a standard Red Ale Aroma. Poured orange in color with a tiny, off-white head that lasted only a second or two before disappearing, except for around the edges. Hazy and a bit cloudy. Some large particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, resin, pine, slight caramel, and general Red Ale flavor. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, hop, resin finish. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.
