COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Swordfish Double Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA) is dark in color, with a prominent “Northwest” hoppy aroma – citrusy, piney and resinous – with sweet malt, hints of roastiness and toasted malt. The flavors strike a beautiful balance between citrusy Northwest hops and, to a lesser degree, roasted, chocolate malt or caramel notes. Despite it’s rich color, the body is more reminiscent of an India Pale Ale, not heavy like a porter or stout. It takes the very deft hands of our Fish brewers to make these flavors play well together so that they don’t fight one another. But as you’ll see with Swordfish CDA, when that perfect balance is struck, something sublime happens; the result becomes more than the sum of its parts and you’ll finally taste what makes a Casdadian Dark Ale so special. Available April 1st – June 30th in 22oz bottles & draft

Bottle. Black bodied with a medium foamy tan head. Aroma is strong pine notes, roasted malt, floral hops and citrus. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate covered oranges, pine resins and floral hops. Body is medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation and a lingering hop bitterness. Ends with more pine notes, citrus oils, roasted malt, burnt caramel and floral hops.

A bit ashy. Moderate sweetness overshadowed by hops and burntness. It is not a complex beer. A failed experiment.

Great balance of the dark flavors with the hops. Just an edge of the burnt over a richer chocolate with some resiny hops. Dark and creamy. Flavors of chocolate, oak, oatmeal cookie.

Bomber at The Fishery Restaurant in San Diego.....how ironic. Never heard of this brewery before but they nailed this one. Great beer....maybe I’m biased because I’m a huge CDA fan.....oh sorry ratebeer.com, I mean Black IPA....lame.

650ml bottle pours almost black in color with 2 fingers of off-white head that settles down to some thin spots of lacing. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate with some citrus. Taste is roasty malt bitterness with some sweetness from the chocolate and caramel malts finishing with a citrus and woody hop bitterness that lingers. Medium bodied with some nice carbonation leaving nice sensations on the palate. A really well done beer in this style.

There is a bitter bite along with molasis malts. Very dark/black. Interesting CDA as CDAs are (AKA black Ipa’s). Deschutes Hop in the Dark (CDA) is another great example of a CDA

Bottled. Very deep ambery brown colour, medium beigeish brown head. Aroma is nutty, fruity,some floral hops as well as mild roast, toffee and some herbs. Flavour is rather grassy and floral, quite bitter grassy notes. Mild roast, toffee and sweet maltyness as well.

Dark brown color, decent beige head. Hayish hoppy with some notes of caramel and toasted malts.Medium-bodied. Chocolate, caramel malts and piney hops. Quite smooth palate. Enjoyable CDA.
