3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Fish Tale, pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out light piney and resinous hops, not much else. Flavour is well-balanced, with piney and resinous hops, some fruitiness and dry caramel malts to back. Good balance and depth. Nice beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, December month notched with no year for dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly sticky, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice IPA. All around good balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink. It is at least a year old in age, but still a nicely enjoyable offering as it stands now.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
no HUGE faults, but doesn’t distinguish itself...at all. Piney peachy hops are right on the mark as well, but while it is a fairly bitter beer, it lacks any punch or complexity. An average IPA at best...I was expecting more. Spawned on date of December. The lack of a year combined with the mellowness of the beer, along with other signs of age (the aroma and flavor were similar to other past-their-prime IPAs I’ve had) make me wonder if this was from Dec ’07 or ’08. I’ll guess ’07 as it doesn’t taste or smell fresh enough for a 3-4 month old...if it is, that sucks. Not one I’ll have again either way. It may be a good idea to distinguish your winter offering more than this one does. 3/12-tried again. mediocre at best. meh."

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Somehow I neglected to rate this..maybe it is in the journal. Unfiltered orange-tan.Old school crystal malt IPA aroma. Patchy head residue. Big piny Chinook hop tones, hold up quite well. Thick, sugary sweet malt bill courtesy of the Honey Malt I suppose. Pretty good, kind of of old school, but respectable enough.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The appearance is a hazy golden colored body with a one finger white foamy head and has some mild speckled lacing.
The smell has some bitter cooked hops that kinda come through pretty earthy but controlled with a decent backing by the malts.
The taste is bitter but sweet, not combined, just seems to hang there a bit to leave something to be desired. There is a mild malty yet bitter aftertaste with a dry finish.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium, and comes across as fairly sessionable for the most part. Carbonation is harsh penetrating enough for an AIPA but not so much as a winter warmer.
Overall, this is not a bad beer, but not really a winter warmer, more of an AIPA that I think I would have again depending upon what else is there.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a tea-amber into the glass, with a wispy white head that leaves trace lacing. The nose is of grassy biscuits... with a weird hint of fish.... really weird. Sweet malt upfront, some nuttiness with a peppering bitter finish. The mouthfeel is a bit unilateral in underwhelming activity, not a lot of complexity going on. Maybe it just hit me at the wrong time. Average IPA, nothing standing out about the season or the complexity.
