Here is the full-bodied seasonal ale that brings meaning to Winter Warmer. With a snappy hop character, this isnít just another brown beer masquerading as a seasonal. This is hearty fare brewed for the season of celebrations. Enjoyed at ease with friends and food, Winterfish will put a glow in the cheeks and warmth in the veins. Pale and honey malts provide an abundantly deep foundation. Then, for bittering, flavor, and aroma, we use 100% Yakima Chinook hops in the kettle. For additional flavor and aroma, itís more Yakima Chinooks in the hop-back. Perfect for festive feast, this is the hoppiest winter ale we know of! Savor a pint and youíll know why Northwesterners agree: An ice cold Winter never sounded better!

12 oz. bottle from my porch. Literally, I have beer sitting out on my porch to take advantage of the cold weather, and to cut down on costs. Anyways, this has a hazy, golden-coppery color. It had relatively little head to start with, and now itís just a bald beer, that is - without head. Aroma is of sweet malt, and a touch of honey. What I really like is the citrus aroma that seems to be coming out more and more, as I take more and more whiffs of this. The citrus aroma (mainly oranges) seems to be more pronounced, as it warms. Great texture, along with a relatively great taste. The citrus tastes very nice. The citrus hop bitterness is long lasting, and satisfying. This has a great malt backbone, and really hits the spot. This is a fairly nice brew from a company that I feel has much more potential.

Nice oatmeal stout. Black with a light tan head. The aroma is roast malt and a hint of chocolate. The flavor is roast malt. Very creamy and easy going down.

Fish Taleís Winterfish from Ezo Beer is a 7.5% IPA which is a distinctly US West Coast take on a Winter/Christmas beer. It pours a beautiful orange Amber with a filmy beige head and a tropical fruit hop bouquet - I get mango, papaya and guava. Not evoking winter but it does make me think oishisou. Medium bodied this is quite bitter pine resin, some fruits and malt sweetness. Nice.

Draft - Light citrus and a bit of pith. Clear gold with a decent white head. Pithy citrus hops, light caramel sweetness and a dry finish.

On tap at Fish Tale, pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out light piney and resinous hops, not much else. Flavour is well-balanced, with piney and resinous hops, some fruitiness and dry caramel malts to back. Good balance and depth. Nice beer.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, December month notched with no year for dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, honey, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly sticky, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice IPA. All around good balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink. It is at least a year old in age, but still a nicely enjoyable offering as it stands now.

no HUGE faults, but doesnít distinguish itself...at all. Piney peachy hops are right on the mark as well, but while it is a fairly bitter beer, it lacks any punch or complexity. An average IPA at best...I was expecting more. Spawned on date of December. The lack of a year combined with the mellowness of the beer, along with other signs of age (the aroma and flavor were similar to other past-their-prime IPAs Iíve had) make me wonder if this was from Dec í07 or í08. Iíll guess í07 as it doesnít taste or smell fresh enough for a 3-4 month old...if it is, that sucks. Not one Iíll have again either way. It may be a good idea to distinguish your winter offering more than this one does. 3/12-tried again. mediocre at best. meh."

12oz bottle. Somehow I neglected to rate this..maybe it is in the journal. Unfiltered orange-tan.Old school crystal malt IPA aroma. Patchy head residue. Big piny Chinook hop tones, hold up quite well. Thick, sugary sweet malt bill courtesy of the Honey Malt I suppose. Pretty good, kind of of old school, but respectable enough.

On tap at the brewpub. Somewhat clear yellow/orange pour with a white head. Pine and citrus hop aromas. Tangy citrus/grapefruit hop notes with a big malty backbone. Honey subtones. Good body and mouthfeel. Zesty.
