Was actually listed as batch 1037, but seemed the same. Deep mahogany. Very hoppy, bit citric character to it with some sweetness, some light peat and smoke as well. Basically a decent brown with lots of hops, which isn’t a bad thing.

Take a pretty decent nut brown ale and hop it up sustantially and you wind up with this experimental brew. A little tart/sour thing going on too, but I’m sure why. Very prominent alcohol burn. I’d like to try this again.

Growler. Dark reddish brown color. Aroma has a little nut with more than a fair helping of raw alcoholic fire. The taste is more bitter than most browns. Dry malt base. A little wood. Something was a bit sour, though it could have just been the time spent in the growler.

On Cask. Barleywinesque aroma, rich floral hops and sweet fruit and malt; rich and flowering. Slightly hazed orange-brown, a tinge murky, with a cask creamy head, peach colored. Hoppy! Dominated on the front end. Finishes with a nutty brown run. Pretty good balance, but particularly hoppy for the style. Interesting for a brown with a heaviness on the hops, but still a decent showing of the nutty brown characteristics. Tangy, with a tinge of sour lemon. Palate is an interesting mingling of dry and sweet, with some flourishes of honey and oak. Alcohol is fairly well hidden.
