3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - NOV 5, 2009
[Tap] Part of the brewpub sampler. Pours a slightly cloudy dark golden cool. Not much head. Aroma of caramel malts and grain. The taste is a little more complex. Wheat, light grass, apple, nutmeg and some toffee all made an appearance. Light astringency in the finish. Quite drinkable and an inoffensive session beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 7, 2009
On draught at the brewpub in downtown Duluth, Minnesota. Pours a clear golden pale yellow colored brew with a creamy white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of golden grain malt, some fruity character and flowery hops, a touch of apple and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is light bodied, flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of corn, tropical fruit and apple. Finish is semi-sweet with a fruity and flowery hop aftertaste that slowly disappears.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - AUG 10, 2009
On cask at GTMW 2009
After two heavy beers it was time to clear up the palate with a lighter style that agreed with the heat. This was just the ticket - an American style mild ale which went down easy. It’s not my typical style but could be good for people who think of "beer" as either Bud Light or Guinness.
Aroma / Appearance - The transparent bronze body had some carbonation but not too much. The cask aspects played well against the wheaty base. Overall it was very simple and to the point.
Flavor / Palate - Drinking less like a beer and more likely alcoholic water this was quick to fade on the palate. Just as light on the palate as it was on the nose it could take a while to get into this by which point you would need another one.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 auerbrau (2668) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 27, 2009
On cask at the brewpub. Pours a lightly hazed pale pale yellow, with a soapy white head laying up top. Super light. Almost like water and a splash of malt juice. Insanely drinkable. A little sticky and like apple cider. A dry finish though. A classic golden ale. Okay. Nothing I’d run too, unless I was thirsty thirsty. Has a characteristic rough thinness of most brewpub beers this light.
