COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale is large in body and pitch black in the glass. This stout is brewed one year in advance of release. It’s allowed to ferment then placed in bourbon barrels from Woodford Reserve in Kentucky. After the first aging step this ale is matured on raspberries and cocoa nibs. Tons of chocolate and cherry make this beer a dessert in the glass experience. A wonderfully decadent holiday treat!

Nose is impressive - dark chocolate covered raspberries. Pours out dark brown with a touch of mocha foam. Taste is raspberry forward, a fair amount of heat, some chocolate, not a lot of barrel flavor. There’s something a touch off/unusual in the finish. It’s tasty. More raspberry than bramble rye or lindly park. I’m happy I had the chance to try it.

Black with small white head. Big raspberry nose with some chocolate malt. Taste is heavy on tart raspberry. Just too much fruit for me.

[Bottle] Pours brown with a light brown head. Aroma is huge on barrel, with some chocolate, and coconut. It’s okay, but there is also a blast of alcohol which hurts it. The taste is likewise overpowered with alcohol. Lots of barrel again as well, with underlying fruit and faint tartness. Not very good. Medium-thin mouthfeel with a long finish. Overall, this was definitely a disappointment.

I have to go against the grain on this one. I did not think this was a good beer. The aroma was medicinal berry and reminded me of Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss. Some real raspberry flavor, and roasted malt. It needs some adjustment. #85.

Bottle shared on Huny day. Very interesting nose with coconut and raspberry aromas. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Wow, this is wacky and very good. The body is a little thin, with raspberry, coconut, and dark roasted malts and undercurrents of Woodford’s and oak...

Bottle pour. Dark chocolate and slightly reddish pour, a little carbonation and mild tootsie roll/cherry aroma. Flavor is very sweet cocoa, dark cherry, sweet and just slightly medicinal. Really good beer, although definitely a dessert drink best for small servings.

Bottle. Black. Beige. Bright real raspberry, melding well with the stout. Lovely body and balance. Raspberry full bodied tartness and meaty fruit bursting forth. Balanced by deep chocolate. Yummy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour out of bottle post Winterfest, shared by and with clevar. Thick black pour with some brown around the edges with a nice creamy tan head. Aroma brings big sweet raspberries, chocolate and caramel, hints of bitter cocoa as well from the nibs and some roast and coffee, but those are fairly restrained. Taste is really like a dark chocolate covered raspberry, some slight hints of caramel, vanilla and a touch of bourbon, hints of bitter coffee as well but really is a dessert beer through and through. Well made for sure!

Very special beer. Bottle 103 of 200. Christmas present from Nils, thanks man. Smells of bourbon, raspberries and a little astrigent. Taste is very tart and fruity, the barrel and malt take a back seat to this beer. After if warms the barrel becomes a little more prominent but the raspberries are still very heavy. I like it but once is enough. Glad to have gotten a chance to try this rare treat!
