Nice, hazy golden pour with nice white head. Besides having the traditional banana and rich malt, earthy aroma, this one had a pleasing aroma of a 4H barn and a curious, almost peppermint flavor of pepto bismal. One of the easiest drinking strong Belgiums I’ve had. Bit of sour at the finish. Nice.

Growler. Pours pale golden yellow with a white soapy head that fades quick to a thin collar. Aroma is bread yeast and faint artificial bananas and apples, and lemons. Taste is more bread, yeast and bitterness with a fruitness that consists of artificial bananas and apples, lemon. Palate feels full and slick with a chaulky dry finish.

On draught during Winterfest 2009 in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear golden brew with an average sized white head that has has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, banana esters, cloves, some tropical fruit and a hint of coriander. Taste is slightly sweet, medium to full bodied, with flavors of banana esters, cloves, some wheat, golden grain malt, and a touch of candi sugar. Finish is semi-sweet, some alcohol warmth with an aftertaste of honey, banana esters and a hint of coriander. Most excellent.

I liked this a lot. It isn’t often an American brewpub pulls off a Belgian ale like this, that actually tastes like a traditional Belgian ale. Spices in the aroma and flavor, some coriander, citrus. A little earthy. Some alcohol, and sweet candy sugar. Good palate.

A mildly spicy, forcefully alcoholic attempt at something refined. Clear, medium golden in color. Aroma and flavor of syrupy fruit cocktail, elements of banana, clove, and butterscotch arriving at intervals. Brisk, sharp palate. Decently interesting, but all is coated with the sugar syrup of the tin can monstrosity.

Clear straw yello, thin head. Nose of apple cider, bit of yeast, but mostly just sweetened fruit. Flavor vaguely tripel-esque with fruit, spice, and yeast, but far too much spice and the alcohol is HUGE on this one. It’s like somebody dropped a shot of everclear into a bad Belgian beer.

Pours a deep clear gold with half an inch of white foam. Minimal head retention but good lacing throughout. The aroma is simply delicious – with bread dough, yeast, and a bit of honey. Lots of flavors here: honey and light caramel malt, biscuit and bready malt, yeast, and Honeycrisp apple. A bit drier malt in the finish, with subtle alcohol and a dry, mild nutmeg or coriander spiciness. Some bittersweet almond, orange liquer, and even a dash of hops linger in the aftertaste. Medium-full body, exceptionally smooth mouthfeel (must be that North Shore water), good gentle carbonation, deceptive alcoholic presence.
