Minnesota Winterfest 2013. Copper color with a small head. Strong pine and citrus aroma. Piney flavor, but oddly a fair whack of tobbacco. Power of suggestion from the name?

On tap at Winterfest 2013. Light brown pour with some head. The hops and wood did not mix well for me, didn’t really enjoy this one.

Tap at Winterfest 2013. Orange pour with a moderate white head. Grapefruit hops and cedar on the aroma and taste. Solid!

valpoaj (634) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Sample FOBAB ’12 - Pour is orange/gold with a medium whitish head. Aroma is mildly hopped and has a significant smoke/wood facet - interesting, if not my standard cup of tea. Flavor is similarly heavy on the smoke notes, some piney hops, considerable wood backing. Average palate - maybe a bit thin for what I like to see in a DIPA, but not the point of degrading from the overall impression.

deyholla (6644) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a clear orange amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with just a bit of hoppiness and a backing cedar note. Flavor starts similarly with sweet grains that last throughout with a bit of pine hops and a cedar finish.
