4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (5572) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 28, 2013
In short: A very fruity raspberry beer with a strong farmhouse character. Excellent.
How: Bottle 750ml, corked & caged. Consumed when probably 8 months of age. Bottle sent to me by tyler_mn, thank a lot Tyler.
The look: Cloudy pale red body topped by a small pink head.
In long: Big raspberry aroma, smooth semi-funky farmhouse notes, some red berries. Taste has plenty of fresh raspberries but also a surprising presence of tart cherries flavor (considering is not supposed to use cherries), lemony tartness, light oak presence, only a light tannins presence, an strong overall farmhouse sensation. Very satisfying beer successfully merging fruit beer and farmhouse ale with the barrels staying background. Easy to drink which is what is often lacking from this type of beer. An expensive beer, but whoever said the best thing in life are free was probably just a huge fan of little Heinz ketchup packets and individually packaged moist hand sanitizers.

Sample at WtWBA. Really pleasant raspberry sour. The fruit is dominant in the nose and the taste. The beer is sour but very drinkable. Fantastic beer.

Bottle @ Armin’s bachelor party. Thanks Caleb! Pours a hazy pinkish appearance with an off white head. Somewhat tart raspberry, lemon, bubbly, somewhat funky, barnyard aroma. A bit juicy but quite nice, full raspberry/seedy, light cranberry, well carbonated, a bit citrusy, lightly funky, lactic flavor. Pretty tasty stuff. Thanks again to Caleb for opening this baby late in the night.

Pour out of bottle at Winterfest 2012, nice pink-almost reddish pour with thin slightly off white head. Aroma hits you in the face with big, big raspberry, including the seeds and plant portions, with nice big funky notes with horseblanket and some basement, hints of lemon from the lactic but overall a nice big sour aroma. Taste lets down just a touch, with hints of funk and nice lactic notes but not over the top, some nice raspberry that is more restrained. Overall, well crafted.

Big thanks to Dan for this one.
Appearance is great as is the nose. Very big raspberry and funk going on here. There barrel did this beer well. Taste is a little off putting very tart/dank but I taste a bit of cork in the flavor. I am enjoying this one though. Not sure if that cork flavor is because this beer is a little young (in the bottle) or if there was a problem with the corks they used. Regardless I think this is special and am happy to have experienced this beer. Merry Christmas!

Minnesota Winterfest 2012. Red/pinkish color with a small head. Strong raspberry aroma. More monster raspberry flavor. Moderately sweet, but quite tart. Not much of the underlying beer comes through, but the berry flavor is just delicious.

Tap. Clear dark red/pink pour, nice tart cherry nose. Flavor was just as good as the nose, plenty of fruit, decent amount of sourness and finished very clean.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 MBrausen (69) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Poured on tap at Fitger’s into a 10oz snifter.
A. Pours a dark redish orange, nice 3mm white head, maintains thickness for minutes afterwards with very nice lacing.
S. Smells of sweet tart cherries, raspberries, slight bread and a wonderfull tartness.
T. Tastes of sweet raspberries, tart cherries, and a bit of sour grapefruit with a hint of orange.
M. Medium body, smooth with a medium heavy carbonation, mildly chewy, with a wet tingly finish.
O. A very good beer, lots of depth, lots of flavor. I feel like in a few years this beer would pop and be just amazing. A little time to mellow and change. A very good beer. I can’t wait to crack one of the bottles I picked up.

[On-tap at Fitgers] Pours reddish-brown with a small white head. Aroma is really nice--loads of fresh raspberry, not artificial or candyish. Acidic, with light wheat. Taste has fresh raspberry, good sourness, really no funkiness to speak of, just acidity. Lots of wheat at the end, with some diacetyl showing through after awhile. The butter is not very appealing. Medium mouthfeel, with a decent length finish. Overall, fairly simple, with just a lot of acidity. That alone is not necessarily a bad thing, but the butter is disappointing. Also, this is not worth the price ($10 for 10oz pour, or $27 for bottle).
