ABR 2006. Banana and citrus aroma. Sweet wheat flavor and substantial wheat body.. Cloudy yellow. This is simple and there is nothing fancy, so not much to say. But it is a solid hefeweizen.

[Growler] Pours very, very cloudy, orange-brown, with a white head. The final pour looked like a milkshake. Aroma has some banana, but also some tropical fruit and lots of yeast. Taste is less banana and sweetness (although banana is there), and more of a showcase of the wheat. Very clean and enjoyable. Average mouthfeel, good length finish. Overall, a very nice hefe.

Sampled draught at the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis, October 7 2006. Hazy, yeasty-thick dark gold with very little in the way of retained head, just wisps....fairly dry, spicy aroma with decent soft banana presence, a bit of sour lactic quality....body is much sweeter than the nose would indicate, quite thick and juicy, lots of mashed bananas and sourdough, but too sweet and thick overall and nearly cloying....a bit underfermented I think, though the quality ingredients are there.

On Tap in a Weizen. Scent is of yeast and wheat malt. Cloudy bannana yellow in colour with a nice creamy white head with moderate lacing. Flavour is citrus, bannana, autumnal spices and wheat malt... Very interesting. Smooth character and lots of complexity... An exceptional hefe-weizen.

Hazy yellow color with a small head. Very strong orange and banana aroma. The wheat dominates the taste like a wheat smoothie. Dashes of lemon and orange too, but it’s hard to get much past the wheat.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2006 Gitchee Gumee Brewfest 2005. Number 100!!!!!!!! I’m glad it was a Fitger’s Beer, since that’s the home turf, but I wish it had been one of my favorite styles. None the less, rock on! Strong banana aroma, backed with coriander, cinnamon and clove, but all pretty light. Murky, hazy even yellow color. Too watered. Banana, yeast, and wheat flavors. A fairly even wheat. This isn’t my style, so I’m not blown away. Continues with that fresh lemon finish and smooth palate, if it weren’t so weak.

Solid cloud of pale yellow with a large creamy starch white head that fades slowly down to a thin haze and lace is in thin foamy sheets. Smell has a nice soft banana ester aroma, some dull lemon in between with light spicy clove. Soft and pleasant nose. Taste is nice and soft, lighter carbonation then most, kinda fluffy and light with some banana, mild lemon thats dulled with slight clove hints. Mellow, easy, and lightly flavored. Feel is partailly creamy at first then a bit of carbonation grab peeks some interest, but overall short lived in every aspect. finishes with a light textured bite and lingering spice. A pretty desent hefe, has a few things going for it. Needs som elonger lasting qualities and a bit of a boost as well. A bit milder then most, enjoyable but lacking.
