Nice pale orangey-yellow color with a small whipped and smoothly frothed off-white head. Which stays present and proud for an outstanding length of time. Lace? Can ya call it lace when it just sticks like paint in hugely coating sheets? Incredible sticking power, the lace is immoveable, they have to wash this glass twice. Amazing looking glass O' beer! Aroma is quite nice; warming, toasty, woody, and grapefruit rinds all float around wiith good strength. Taste is considerably hoppy with an amazingly interesting raw, fresh grapefruit uniquity, nice and twingy, solid pine resin and alpha acid filled bitterness with a great dry wood backing it up. That grapefruit just keeps on giving and giving, very nice hop profile! As for the malts? There's some toasty biscuity body that sneaks through near the finish, but this sucker is all about the hops. Its a bunch of jabs from a two fisted full of hops heavyweight. Bittering, woody, with superb grapefruity goodness! Feel is quite full, fluffy in texture, and that nice bittering dryness that pops just past midway and far into a lingering finish. Leaving hops everywhere on the palate. One hell of a nice IPA! If hops are what you tailor to ya then this will fit like a glove - a hophead delight! Yum!

Tap at Fitger’s on Nov. 17, 2011. Clear gold pour with a nice wispy white head that leaves good lacing. Nice citrus hop nose. Medium palate. Plenty of hop bite in this - citrus and pine. I love this stuff!

On tap at Fitgers. Amber colour. Citrus aroma and flavour. A little sweet, not too bitter. One of the better beers I tried at Fitgers.

Nitro pour at the brewpub. Too cold initially and the nitro pour mutes the aroma. Herbal, citrusy and piny hops with tobacco and toasty caramel malt profile on the nose. Glowing dark brown/amber pour. Very light carbonation leading up to a creamy white head. Even on nitro, this was a fairly aggressive hop bomb. The malt profile was reminiscent of tree bark and the hops were all pine and citrus zest. A bit out of balance, not my cup o’ tea but the other guys I was with drank the hell out of it.

On nitro! Pours a peach-amber color with at least 2" of soft white foam. Some hoppiness in the aroma. Perfect lace - I can count the rings. One... Two... Three... Four... Order another one! Tasty tasty tasty. Where do I start? OK the malt. Prominent malt, nicely sweet with bit of wild rice earthiness and some honeydew melon to it. Complex hoppiness with piney winning out as the predominent flavor. Also a bit floral. Full bodied and exceptionally smooth. Granted the nitro makes it smooth, but I think this would be smooth even on regular tap. Piney hops return to dominate the aftertaste.

Misty Mountain fills my chalice, freed from the growler, a hazed, burgundy hue, somewhere between pink grapefruit and a paler cranberry...how’s that? Nice white head drifts down assuredly. Big grapefruit smacks the nose right off, sweetness and sour, curdled pine resin, ripened orange, grapefruit, and mango...intriquing, to say the least. Alcohol creeps through, too. Taste: hmmm...forthright, florid, and flush, brash, bold, brazen, ...dripping on all sides with the most unusual flavor. All that citric, piney mess in the nose slopped all over the flavor. Bitter, then fruity and sweet, but always bitter, though fading after initially meeting the palate. Lasts long on the tongue and stays in the mind. Full bodied, long finish, strange flavor, a convoluted mess, challenging drinkability...but I like it! Not every ale need have a clean, crisp body, or even, smooth mouthfeel. Very unique, and tasty. Vibrant, loud, even, ...halfway into my first serving, I’m feeling sated, mellow, set down in the grass by forces beyond my control...just what a great ale should do. Boy the grapefruit really grabs you through...pass me the sugar bowl, would you?

Labeled as Abe’s Misty Mountain IPA on the chalk board. Cloudy amber color with a medium and very creamy head. Citrusy aroma with orange being predominant. It pushes a very dry pine resin taste, but is wonderfuly creamy.

Light amber pour with nice white head and quality lacing. No aroma, slight floral hops. Really sharp, sweet, yet dry on the palate. Floral burst in the nose. Speaks of a bitter butterscotch. Pretty boring, nothing to write home about.

A Variation of the Original Misty Mountain IPA. The ingredients were Altered and the ABV Was A Bit Lower As Well. Cloudy Orange Coloring with Good Creamy Beige Head. Very Hoppy Aroma with some Citrus Notes. On the Tongue...Very Dry and Potent Hop Flavor With Citrus Notes that Hang on for the Ride. Alcohol Uses the Hops to Create a Good Hit Overall. Very Dry and Hoppy Aftertaste...Have to be a Hop Man to Enjoy this One.

Cloudy Amber Coloring. Cappacino White Frothy Head. Plenty of Hops. Bitter....Apricot. Hops that take residence on your tongue...for a long while afterwards...not a bad offering!
