3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 auerbrau (2666) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - DEC 6, 2005
A dusky rusty-amber hued orange, with a slick head of orange-tinted white. Peculiarly familiar spice aroma. There’s some reserved lime and a touch of clove. Some nutmeg and more exotic duskyness. Flavor very similiar, but with a sweet flavor of peas and some light sugary hops. Some marzipan and earthiness shows through, with plenty allspice in the background. Warm yeast and bread round the flavor. Bright, sweet and clean, with plenty of ginger. Sweet malt moves towards a nice gingerbread. Palate is enjoyably sugary, but also quaffably quenching. This is pretty close to Anchor OSA 2004.

Small bottle poured under the table, brought back by robertsreality. Dark, hazy orange color with no head. Very vague corriander aroma. The taste was a bit... wrong. Very bitter addtions of corriander and celery. Definitely not a typical American-style Holiday brew (if there is such a thing).
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - DEC 30, 2004
10 oz glass at the brewpub. Dark, slightly cloudy reddish amber, small dense light taupe head...huge, heady ginger nose with touches of caramel and sage apparent only on the second or third nosing, the first is nothing but sharp sharp ginger, very spicy indeed...softens to the tongue, creamy-smooth mouthfeel with ginger-allspice the dominant "holiday" flavors but enough malt to keep it palatable, unlike most gingery beers...hints of almond at the finish. Hmmm, this seems very different from the previous review....at any rate, interesting if not readily palatable.

Burnt Orange Coloring With Bubbly Sandy Head. Orange, Hoppy, Belgian Spice/Yeast Aroma. Coriander, a Zest of Orange and Dry Hops on the Tongue...Hops Coming Out in the end for a Dry Finale... Slight Warming. Not Extremely Balanced But Nevertheless an Enjoyable Belgian
