COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the leaves disappear from the trees and the first snows begin to fall, our annual sighting of the sasquatch occurs. Sasquatch is a big, malty amber ale; no hop character is evident here, just the melding of bready malty flavors with alcohol. The lack of esters (fruity notes) is typical of Scotch ales. Get yours today, before sasquatch goes into hibernation.

[On-tap at Fitger’s] Pours reddish-brown with a nice beige head. Faint aroma, sweet notes of caramel, grape and pear. Taste has restrained bitterness, big maltiness, caramel, fairly sweet, light raisin and other indistinguishable fruitiness. Well rounded, and nothing stands out. Medium mouthfeel, average length finish. Overall, a nice scotch ale that doesn’t amaze, but is solid nonetheless.

DL06: Poured a hazy golden dark amber color. Aroma of olives and malt. Sour flavor with more olive juice. I don’t know what was going on here.

Ruby fringed hazlenute pour, with a frothy cream of a head. Light caramel and banana aroma. Extremely sugary off the bat. Toffee and caramel dominate, backed by oats and earthy tones. Nutty all the way. Blend this with hints of warm bourbon and rum. Bright and sharp on the back end, with mellow cherry truffle. Well done, but a little hot from the alcohol. Lots of vanilla note s and some hints of cinnamon. Surprisingly this has some spicy and estery yeast notes, despite the presence of Fitger’s characteristic malt and yeast flavor running the gamut of the background. Starts off sweet, but melds into a balanced, savory supple example.

Dark Brown/Red with Sandy Head. Malt Aroma. Sweet Malt Tones with a Warming that Tingles Your Lips and Continues All the Way Down Your Throat. Some Bread Dough. Very Nice Winter Warmer.

Dark red color with a thin head. Very malty aroma. The taste is overwhelminly of sweet malt with a bit of caramel. Man, the alcohol is not hidden at all; very upfront and personal. Definitely a winter warmer variety.

On-tap at the brewpub: Chestnut brown with a slow crimson hint, slim cap of darkened ivory, some stringing lacing sticks. Aroma is clean and somewhat subdued of a molasses caramel maltyness and slight chocolate with a good load of spicy alcoholic heat. Flavors are well into the full-on malt load here, yummy darkened sweet molasses, caramel and fig hints with a soothing backing of hefty chocolate thats mild and taming; mixing well with the other malts. Nothing overwhelms, very balanced, clean, chewy, big on flavors right from the get go and keeps a giving with malty goodness. Both of a slightly sweetness and mild milk chocolateyness; barely a roast noticeable way underneath. Warm and coating to the belly. Smooth and thick malt feel, medium bodied, clean chewyness, sensational drinkability, coats, soothes and warms. A perfect winter warmer after a day of hiking in the cold.

Another beer from Winterfest in St. Paul 2/8/03. She gives some head...her taste is malt.

Very malty with high alcohol, but alcohol is relatively subdued. Not fabulous but good.
