Part of a sampler had with lunch on the way to haul the sailboat for the winter. I have to say it just had little flavor except for some sour, so watery . . .

Sample at the brewery. Dark amber with a light tan head. Sweet, toasty caramelly aroma, real nice. Good hop bite right up front, more toastiness, very nice ESB.

Nice Bitter here. Dark amber color. Lots of sweet carmel with a nice bitter bite at the end.

3 oz. sample, on tap at the brewhouse. This was the second of 9 Fitger’s beers I tried on 4-4-08. Light, buttery aroma. Caramel scent. The smell is pleasant but forgettable. Pours a clear, dark brass to copper color with a moderate amount of near-white head. Caramel and lightly toasted malt flavors. Dry finish. The taste is quite nice. Light, dry aftertaste. Light body.

Brown with a large head. Didn’t know at the time it is served on nitro. Very doughy aroma with some subtle hops. Toasted malts, sweet and bitter after taste. Very different but also very very good.

Draft at the Brewhouse. I think this is Fitgers best beer; the fact that it is served on nitrogen gives it a lovely appearance and creamy palate. Compares to Red Hook ESB; balance tends towards the hop/bitter end but a real nitrogen pull helps keep the beer from being too intense.

sample at pub. Its pretty much a basic ESB. Very true to the style. Very sessionable, but just missing something for me.

Had this one on draught as part of the sampler flight at the brewery in Duluth, Minnesota. Clear copper pour with a very thick, off white head, a sweet and carmelly nose. Malty, yeasty and alcoholic. This was better than I expected.

Smooth body. Deep amber with foaming head, very rich. Nice English character, tempered on the hop side and nicely drinkable. I like it when brewers make bitters more closely to the English example. (on tap at brewpub)
