3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the Brewhouse. I think this is Fitgers best beer; the fact that it is served on nitrogen gives it a lovely appearance and creamy palate. Compares to Red Hook ESB; balance tends towards the hop/bitter end but a real nitrogen pull helps keep the beer from being too intense.

sample at pub. Its pretty much a basic ESB. Very true to the style. Very sessionable, but just missing something for me.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had this one on draught as part of the sampler flight at the brewery in Duluth, Minnesota. Clear copper pour with a very thick, off white head, a sweet and carmelly nose. Malty, yeasty and alcoholic. This was better than I expected.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smooth body. Deep amber with foaming head, very rich. Nice English character, tempered on the hop side and nicely drinkable. I like it when brewers make bitters more closely to the English example. (on tap at brewpub)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear amber color. Thick, long lasting white head. Light malt aroma of a bitter. Aromas has bear and bitter malt as well. Mildly bitter flavor and lots of fruit, especially for the style.

On tap at the Fitgers Brewhouse in Duluth, MN, pours a clear coppery red/brown brew with a creamy off white head. Aroma of hickory wood, some citrus and breakfast biscuits. Taste is sweet, smooth medium body and a touch of apple sour. Finish has a flowery hop bitterness with a grainy aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Copper colored pour of marginal transparency. Biscuits, caramel malts aroma. Bright cranberry and date flavors liven up a nutty cereal body. A very good run at subtlety and richness in English fashion. First rate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On Tap. Reddish-brown with a quickly receding tan creamy head with sparse lacing. Scent is definitely hoppy with a pleasant fruitiness to it. Taste is hoppy and floral on the tongue with a web of complex grain an hop interaction (it kind of acts in the mouth in layers). Leaves a nice velvety texture on the palate and nice activity on the lips. Not an exceptionally outstanding ESB but it definitely had a nice smooth texture overall.
