Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a deep amber-brown with an offwhite head. Nose is strongly oak, coconut & vanilla. The beer is kind of lost behind the barrel. Some toasted malt, not much in the way of hops. On tasting, loads of barrel character but thin overall, both in taste and in palate. Tannins dry it out but the oak also brings a strong vanilla that washes out the beer. Meh.

Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a lot of sweet grains with some bourbon with a hint of underlying grass. Flavor has more balance with a grassiness that works well with the bourbon and has a sweet grain backbone.

September 15, 2012 on tap at the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis. Clear brown pour with head. Woody bourbon and some malt in the aroma and taste.
