on tap at five islands. alas they didn’t have weizen glasses there which immediately created a poor impression. anyways the nose was of wheat syrup and bubblegum. pretty light body, overpale, some vanilla but the finish had a slightly synthetic feel to it

On Tap at the Five Islands Brewery, 5%. Arrived pale yellow with a chilled haze and a small frothy, white head which was mostly diminishing. Strong notes of ginger root in the aroma with allspice, cinnamon, sweet bready malts, aniseed, tangerines and some floral notes in the back. Flavor was of tangy orange with zesty lemon, whole grain, a light bitterness, coriander and a touch of resin in the finish. Light bodied with lively carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, watery texture and a decent finish. Good summer thirst quencher, very refreshing and much better than expected. I overhead the bar staff saying the Longboard is now a Pale ale rather than a Hefeweizen, although it really seemed more a Witbier to me.
