Bottle on the train to the airport on the way to Rome with sister Nellie. Looks great: a deep brown with a large, frothy beige cap and good lacing. Nose of burnt peanuts, roasted malts, ash. Light sweet flavor with burnt malts, burnt toast and earth, minerals, ash and faint cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish, good and bitter, with further roast, more ash and minerals. Perhaps a touch watery at times but overall fair.

Heavy aroma of really dark chocolate. The taste is how ever to acid burnt coffee for a porter according to my taste. A little ower carbonated too.

Bottle. Brown with a small head. Low carbonation with a slightly nutty flavour. Nothing really going for it. Disappointing.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Roasty and minimally smoky dark malty aroma, hints of chocolate and cappuccino. Taste is dry dark malty, roasty, minimally metallic undertones; later with a grassy hoppy touch.

Bottle from Sourced Market. It pours near black with a medium light tan head. The nose is roasty, earth, coffee grinds, burnt toast, caramel and light chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, biscuit, caramel, earth, decent bitterness, toast and ash with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A solid porter all-round.

Bottle at JF’s, from Sourced Market, 09/06/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is big on roast malt, chocolate maltesers, biscuit, mineral notes. Taste comprises light chocolate, hoppy backnote, mineral bite, good roast profile. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry roasted finish. A decent first rating from Five Points for myself, a flavourful porter.
