A slightly disappointing lack of aroma aside this is a perfectly serviceable dark ale. If it was just a bit bolder then it’d be really nice. Fruity, resinous taste with a bit of a lingering smokiness.

The aroma is straight forward roasted grains. Like a grain coffee. Still mellow and milky. Taste is also narrow with accents on grain coffee. But with lots of water. What I enjoy is the creamy and soft mouth feel for what I will give extra points.

Clear, dark copper. Frothy light beige head. Malty, slightly roasted aroma. Similar flavour. Ok dry finish. Nicely balanced and not bad at all.

Bottle, 5.2%. Good roasted and nicely sweetish aroma. Clear very dark brown colour. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is nicely roasted with a good vinous touch. Fruity and vinous finish with a milder roasted note. Late light chocolate aftertaste. More of a Schwarzbier than Dunkel, I guess. A nice suprise.

Bottle. Pours clear coffee brown with airy off-white head. CLear aroma of roast and malt, with touches of hops and caramel. Bitter and roasty flavour, with notes of smoke and malt and touches of yeast. Roasty and malty aftertaste. Surprisingly good, and more like a Schwarzbier than a Dunkel.

On tap at many places across Crete. Pours black with slight reddish colour, single finger tan head. Aroma of coffee, smokiness, roasted malts, light milkiness too. Aroma of roasted malts, smokiness, coffee, chocolate and a touch of lactic in there too. Very nice at a decent price!

330 ml bottle. BB 10/2015. From a kiosk in Athens, Greece. Black reddish colour with a tiny tan head. Coffee, milky sweetness, sweetness in general and some toasted malty notes in the aroma. The flavour is toasted malt, dryness, lots of coffee, café au lait, mild bitterness and sweetness. Too sweet and too much milky coffee for my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Erzengel (4716) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JAN 20, 2015
The beer starts smooth and fresh. Not too deep, not too much roast. Only in the aftertaste there are hints of nuts and chocolate. The bitterness is above average, but the roasty malt layer is too thin. Quite neutral in the mainpart, which is sad, as the roasted ground-flavour is quite nice.

[6246-20140415] Can. Burnt caramelized wood charcoal aroma. Dark black cola body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Bitter roasted bread and wood chips flavour. Full body. Average. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3
